They lost all those jobs, have interest rates at 12%, and still somehow manage to have inflation all the way at 17%....

Yea pretty evident their economy is taking a massive dump. Makes you wonder who's pushing this "sanctions aren't working so please stop them" narrative.

hey guys I saw a twitter image that said the rubble number is big! I've never actually toucher a rubble though...

Trying to find it now
I'm just curious as to how those guns made it to the East from the Polish border in the West. Roughly 800 miles.
Last I read the Russians were planning on destroying most of the Ukrainian rail system.

The original point was that the sanctions are not really affecting the Russian economy the way the West wishes it would. Europe is still buying their petrol and gas from Russia and even if they stopped doing so in the near future by implementing more nuclear plants and so on (which will take years) then Russia will simply turn to Asia as a buyer; notably China and India.

Someone ought to tell Russian authorities then

Their central bank is expecting an 8-10% contraction this year

https://financialpost.com/news/econ... Bank of Russia said, decline of 10.3 per cent.

Yes that's a very bad recession and many of the parts they use (even in their missiles) are imported, and they are the type of thing you can't just spin up a factory to make in a year. These sanctions will damage Russia for many years.

Probably in the back of a truck? i mean its not like Russia can effectively patrol the roads 24/7

What are the Ukrainians doing with all the artillery they got from the US? Has it reached the East yet? Was it destroyed by the Russians?
Here they are using their own Howitzers - May 9th, Ukrainian forces target Russian positions in the Kharkiv region:

Kicking asa around Kharkiv

Could you imagine this scenario?

Russian tank gunner in Ukraine - "Sir, I have them in my sights!"

Tank Commander - "Ok, steady, lase... FIRE!"

Tank Commander - "Why aren't you firing?!?! Why are we spinning around in circles back and forth?!?!?"

Gunner - "Sir! The tank has gone into rinse cycle!!!!!"
When you mean to hit the "Brrrrrtttttt!" button but instead hit "Heavy Wash"

This is even optimistic prognosis...might be worse.
Yeah, they are commodities exporter and that's all they irl does have.

At least 50000 already had lost jobs.
Most painful stuff for Russia is highly skilled specialists emmigration....30 years in row.

Now looks that since this war started....from Russia had relocated >160000 ppl.
Actually this for long term development perspective and even GDP is worse than if 400 000 average joes from villages had relocated from russia.
Because ppl able to relocate aren't very poor of course.
They had spent in russia on monthly basis money, attracted foreign currency inflow in Russia.
Business ppl, well paid specialists, normally supported foreign students, then ofc STEM field ppl.
If they were able normally earn in Russia to buy these I Phones, Mackbooks, save money to buy expensive tickets, rent rooms for a living when relocated....sure they will be able normally earn after relocated.
Also these specialists for sure are good, otherwise companies didn't accepted them...

It is very painful for Russia in long term.

Reasons to relocate were : fear, restrictions and prohibitions and ofc for some % = cos they don't have clients if are now living in Russia.....

LOL and Sweden are very likely to follow closely behind. Well done Putin, his cunning master plan at preventing the expansion of NATO by invading Ukraine was comprehensively successful. What a genius.
It’s all part of the plan, you don’t think Russia could crush Ukraine if they really wanted to? You’re a fool!

-Russian Bots circa Feb/March 2022 who have now dissipated as the checks stopped coming in the mail.

What an awesome time to fly back to Finland tomorrow !

Meh nothing will change except that political situation will be tense for next 12 months

I wonder if anything changes in military, hope tactics wont be different since nato has holes in its training

Situation is economic + russia's imperialistic ambitions, they are far beyond former Warshaw block borders.

Russia is scared that Finland had launched NPP block with 1600000kW power to gird....with western suppliers.

Next block most likely too will be with western suppliers.

Russia is hoping that all europe will be puppet cos natural gas supplies.
Will not be.
Even before war natural gas prices had increased months in row and seriously.
Just casual customer if he had contract with fixed for year calculated price didn't had noticed market price change and ....when will get new tariffs will cry and think that it is just cos sanctions.
It isn't!
There are chances that really soon Norway natural gas and even imported LNG will not be more expensive than Gazprom natural gas.

Poland pissed them off when they demanded roubles but actually to buy russian natural gas if you aren't lukashenko isn't good deal money wise anymore.
Add here their stupidity and ambitions: cavemans...
