I think the verdict still out. No doubt more weight to hump around. While on paper, a specialized 5.56mm (77 grain) will outperform it at longer ranges, the bullet is still behind in terms of energy. From shorter barrels designed for CQB, the 6.8mm SPC will absolutely stomp on the 5.56mm. Both have their pros and cons. Like the 7.62mm. Seems to be a favorite though:

5,56*45 will remain as mainstream round.
To replace mainstream cartridges with new type isn't easy.
Too much weapons using 5,56*45 are produced.
Maybe some additional stuff like this 6,8 mm will be added, something manufactured.

Vital supplies like food and medicine are the first things to run out in any city during a prolonged conflict. Ukrainians probably think that by humiliating looters in public, they are preventing others from stealing things that are potentially the difference between life and death.

That would have been way too expensive. What caliber is that anyway? All 3 look horrible, but I guess Sig Sauer was the cheapest bidder.
I still like to see how a 6.8mm round is going to fit into a NATO 5.56mm world.
