Russia/Ukraine Megathread V6

Wait… when did Putin demonize a race of people and send them to concentration camps, use for science in horrific fashion, and murder millions of them in the gas chambers?

you hyperbolic leftist sheep are a site to behold

That's not what genocide means.

Putin has demonized Ukrainians by falsely portraying them as Nazis - genocide has absolutely nothing to do with concentration camps, scientific experiments, or gas chambers - genocide is the destruction of a people or a nation, and while the attempted absorption of Ukraine into Russia as an entire entity has already failed, the annihilation of cities and regions to make them Russian and delete the Ukrainian parts is genocide.

We live in a different world now where citizens are more likely to be 'displaced' then slaughtered, because they get up-to-the-minute news and can choose to flee - but the continued attempted annihilation of entire cities is genocide.

The Armenian genocide was an attempted forced Islamization, what we're watching is the attempted forced Russification of Eastern Ukraine.

Try thinking for yourself, you clearly aren't capable of it, knee jerker.

Oh boy. I saw some vids of POW hangings, a crucifixion set on fire, a tied-up POW getting shanked to death with a 10" Bowie knife, incapacitated POWs getting brained.

These are on sites that you don't want to go on unless you're ready to see how bad the rest of the World really is.

Yeah... it's a sad state of affairs. But I prefer to see the truth . It's most definitely not for everyone

Except for the 'burning crucifixion', which is a popular one for Russian propaganda. They've made these claims a few times, here's another example:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crucified_boy

This is nonsense to appeal to hardcore orthodox christians, and it's been proven that video is old, but not proven that it's genuine.

Indeed. The crucifixion one was doing the rounds back at the start of the donbas issues . ( 2014 )

One I saw wasn't a boy. But I wouldn't consider it confirmed as the quality was so low. ( I hope it wasn't real as well )

Kneecappers and knife in eye guy I'm quite sure are real tho.

This right here. I'd never count on this thread to provide a fair and neutral update when a majority of the media is from twitter/reddit that has mostly been passed through the Western filters. Here's an example from 3 hrs ago:

Majority of the posters in here would look at this and say "Cool! So inspiring!". And then move onto the next tweet without even being aware of what's totally wrong with the tweet.

I've seen those videos (unfortunately), and the kneecapping and knife guy seem legit.

Those were actually covered in mainstream media, too, so I've no reason to doubt the authenticity of those videos.

The Russian colours on the first lady tell you those aren't Azovstal defenders lol

Yeah there is clearly no genocide, it's ridiculous.

I'm quite sure pows of both sides have been mistreated.. ( how horrifically I'm not sure ).

But if these have been released / recorded so openly and with so much confidence... makes you wonder what happens behind closed doors.

It's why when people say that the Ukrainians have a choice to surrender.. I doubt I'd take that chance personally.

Ditto if I was a Russian soldier. The dehumanising campaign ( yes caused by Russian actions) has worked extremely well imo.

If this continues to draw out there's going to be some brutal retaliations. ( not that what Ukrainians are suffering now isn't brutal )

The crucifixion with bonus of being set on fire was a POW. An Adult Male. It could've been a Russian separatist from 2014-2021, I don't know, but I didn't see it circulate until a couple of months ago.

I wish I was able to understand more than English lol

The video is very, very old. The defenders of Azovstal haven't seen daylight in weeks. It's yet another propaganda video to drum up support. People in the comment section demanding that the US send troops in to rescue those "brave Ukrainians". Yeah, that's gonna be a No from me dog.

The population SPEAKS Russian, but they are not pro-Russia - this is just one of many miscalculations by Putin.

Konrad Muzyka, an independent defence analyst, said that Mariupol was the most pro-Russian city in Ukraine, which is mind-boggling - the idea that places like Donetsk and Luhansk are pro-Russian comes from referendums on LANGUAGE, and the fact that Russian separatists backed by Russia itself have been in control for almost a decade.

If the Donbas was legitimately pro-Russian, it would be Russian by now - it's not, because the Donbas does not want to be part of Russia.

Russia's best course of action is to 'win' this region is to flood it with Russians, fake some referendums, and wave some flags - which is no doubt the plan.

What we're seeing is an attempt at occupation, not Russification - the bottom line is, the war has forced Ukrainians to flee the region, but I can't buy into the idea that the region is 'Russified'.

Considering they took up arms against the Ukrainian state it's probably fair to say they don't want to be a part of Ukraine either.

There's a really great documentary that you might have seen called Restrepo, and it has a sequel (but I can't remember it's name). I don't know if you've seen it, it's about Americans in Afghanistan, if you've seen it, fair enough I'm not trying to cast aspersions, but if you haven't, it's about the easiest way to see a really, really good documentary that would partially explain how atrocities could easily happen behind closed doors.

Everyone that's fighting, is fighting alongside people they either like, respect, love, or just accept - but they're fighting for a cause, and the reaction and retaliation to pain is often to want to inflict similar or greater pain.

It is what it is.

You enter a war, don't expect to be treated any better than the person that suffers the worst possible treatment, and that doesn't matter which side you're on.

You know, Rudyard Kipling wrote:

"When you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Jest roll to your rifle and blow out your brains"

Fucking awful, but war is awful. No point trying to attribute awfulness to one side or the other, it's war. It's awful.

Where in my post did i claim any of that? Doesn't matter if you kill 1000 innocent people, or a million, its still genocide. STFU you russian human bot.

Considering they took up arms against the Ukrainian state it's probably fair to say they don't want to be a part of Ukraine either.

"They" took up arms against Ukraine, but "they" also took up arms to defend Ukraine, and that's a plain and basic fact of the matter, so let's not bother pretending 'Donbas' took up arms against Ukraine any more than 'Donbas' took up arms against Russia.

Nonsense post.

Pretty sure I've seen it. Yeah it brings out the ugly ( war ). We've had a bit of a trial in Australia regarding special forces and war crimes.

To me there'sa few types. The brutal efficiency that is war. Cold blooded decisions. It sucks but it is war.

Then those who enjoy inflicting pain and torment. Two vastly different things to me. Realistically they're irrelevant on a battlefield . Losing a loved one its irrelevant if it was purposefull or collateral so I get it.

But it's still a distinction to me .

Fair enough. I concede the point.
Ok.
I'm surprised you missed this when it was initially posted, but yes, you can Google it or use YouTube.
Fair enough. I respect your view.
I too conceded that I was wrong on Putin and Ukraine on a previous post. I made a mistake. I really thought the man was going to go 'all-out' on May 9th and declare war and start a full mobilization. He did not. This basically guarantees that there will not be a 3rd WW or a nuclear war in the near future. I wish more people would do that. Admit when they are wrong or made a mistake. There is nothing wrong with that and it raises your level of respect and integrity. This is a key leadership trait in the US Army. Soldiers know when you are 'full-of-shit' or being honest. They know leaders are human and make mistakes or bad decisions. They respect those that own up to it.
Although I will point out that under certain circumstances, police and military can be authorized to use lethal force to stop looting even in Western countries.
Yes, but they don't humiliate them publicly by taping them to street poles and showing their genitals. This is the part that lost a lot of points with me with the Ukrainian people. It is bad enough with men, but with women it is atrocious.

Delta is the most secretive group of operators from the US, if not the planet. They operate outside of normal DoD parameters. Only a very small handful of individuals are privy to their operations. These guys don't wear regular uniforms, they don't fight on the front lines with the grunts, and they sure as hell don't advertise.
Actually, Delta is part of the US Army Special Forces - Detachment Delta.
1st Special Forces Operational Detachment–Delta (1st SFOD-D).
They do wear the same uniform as the regular Army soldiers. This would be the patch on the left shoulder. United States Army Special Operations Command (Airborne) - USASOC. Not all who wear it are Delta, but all Deltas wear them.

True, if we are willing to pretend that was a majority, or that Russia doesn't actively move their own people to other regions for the sake of a unified Russian sphere. Next we'll also pretend that the airliner shot over Donbas wasn't perpetrated by Russia. Or that there's not even a war going on.
