Russia/Ukraine Megathread V6

I think reality matters more than statements and announced papers& promises.
1.China will not supply Russia nor weapons nor soldiers.

So far, so good on this score, at least officially.

Wonder if it surprised Putin that China wouldn't even break international sanctions in the form of supplying parts?

Yeah, they're mainly talking about the country folk who have never seen a person of color. Get stares, called 'monkey' or the N-word. Basically like going to rural Georgia or Alabama.

Interesting take.

I'm not sure racism is a countryside thing lol, either Ukraine or anywhere else

I'm listening to JRE with Antonio Garcia Martinez who just got back from Ukraine. I'm only about an hour in but think there's a bunch of people here who could benefit from listening to the first 30 minutes or so.

From just how large a percentage of the Ukrainian citizens who have become displaced so quickly, to the refugee demographics, to the Ukr people's 'fuck you, you'll have to kill me' attitude it should at least give people a different perspective.

given the destructive power of modern man portable anti tank weapons, do you think going forward there will be less emphasis on sizeable tank deployments by armies? those things are pricey.
It's definitely a display of infantry vs. tank power but as a few others have pointed out it's as much to do with the shitty way the Russians are using their tanks. The ones getting destroyed seem to have either no air cover, no infantry cover or are going through bottlenecks. This one where they are all packed in tight and get picked off just shows how bad their tactics are.

Putin stuns the world with shock move

President Vladimir Putin has audaciously stated on live TV that Russia will only accept payments in rubles for gas deliveries to “unfriendly countries”, which include all EU members, after Moscow was hit by unprecedented sanctions over Ukraine.

It means that these nations will soon have to convert their payments to Russian rubles if they want gas.

“I have decided to implement a set of measures to transfer payment for our gas supplies to unfriendly countries into Russian rubles,” Putin said during a televised government meeting, ordering the changes to be implemented within a week.

Putin ordered the nations’ central bank to develop a mechanism to make ruble payments in a matter of days.

Russia has earlier named the US, UK and members of the European Union “unfriendly” nations.

Will usa continue to stay out? I want you guys to realise if usa ramps up it's involvement... it's about this.. not Ukraine.

The central banks will collapse. There are other forces at work which will bring it about. Putin is simply making the correct move, in light of other events which are not being televised.

Most of the chinese weapons have been hype with little to no proof. They're skills nuclear and metallurgy are pretty bad hints why they canceled they're nuclear carrier program. Also we are seeing first hand in the conflict the quality of Chinese made equipment in this war. Theyre tires are absolutely horrid(russian wheeled vehicles are using Chinese rubber), and they're radios and communications equipment is pretty bad, and when i mean bad, they don't work.
Nah, I would question that. Let's look at their space program:

Since 2016, China's space industry has made rapid and innovative progress, manifested by a steady improvement in space infrastructure, the completion and operation of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System, the completion of the high-resolution earth observation system, steady improvement of the service ability of satellite communications and broadcasting, the conclusion of the last step of the three-step lunar exploration program ("orbit, land, and return"), the first stages in building the space station, and a smooth interplanetary voyage and landing beyond the earth-moon system by Tianwen-1, followed by the exploration of Mars.

Long March rockets have carried out almost all Chinese space launches. Through 2019, the Long March series completed 307 successful launches,, and experienced 7 partial failures and 9 failures. This gives the series a success rate of 95%, 7 which compares closely with key launch vehicles of other countries.

Well, China not likely will supply Russia weapons parts, India too.
All they needs from Russia is to pump their currency in Russian/Belarus market, buy shares/companies, take them with soft skills + to get commodities for price below market price under their rules and terms. Appendix to be milked dry.

About sanctions, I suspect that if they did not agreed to sell 2 m bbl crude oil with huge discount below market price, India most likely had imposed sanctions on Russia.
Both; India and China are seeing russia as cow to milk. Nothing more, they are more dangerous for Russia in long term than all West and NATO ( NATO and USSR had spared city and during 50 years 0 russians had been wounded or killed. Berlin. West/ East + despite all nukes and tanks.

It certainly doesn't help from my experience. The Peace Corps bulletin also referenced that.

There's a Serbian independent journalist in Mauripol, who has been there for the last two days and he's the first guy that was allowed into Azov command. I don't know how he managed to do it, he's on his way to Donetsk now. I'll do my best to translate interesting stuff and post cliffs as soon as the video is uploaded. Might be a good watch.

Russia is easily one of the top 3 most powerful countries in the world by military strength.
Not anymore. Their nukes do count for something -- if they can fly. Some ICBMs date back to the 1950s.
People need to realize this isn't Russia vs Ukraine, it's Russia vs Ukraine + USA and NATO. The more US gets involved the more likely Russia is going to nuke the US in retaliation. You think that could or would never happen but I think that is where most people are wrong.
US and NATO are 'supporting' Ukrainian fighters on the ground. That is it. Wasn't North Korea and North Vietnam supported by China? China was not fighting a war with the US in Korea or Vietnam. If Russian nukes the US, the US would nuke Russia. How would Russia benefit by nuking the US? Both the US and Russia would cease to exist.
Biden is a moron.
Yes, I agree with you 100% on this issue.
* I think Putin will be gone in 12 months. A chance for the new younger Russian generation to make a better country.

Somebody should warn him not to get taken alive, in any case. Based on the mentality of people fighting there (I guess I know a bit about it) snipers are in for special treatment if captured.
Snipers know this. Snipers are not well received by any army they fight against.

15,600 dead Russian soldiers in roughly 4 weeks! Wow.
I think Putin will easily burn through between 500,000 and 1,000,000 soldiers if he has to. Russia will eventually take over the Ukraine.
The best way to end this is to take Putin out. Either the Russians do it or the West will do it for them.
Where is the Israeli Mossad when you need them?

Israel refused to sell their Pegasus hacking software to Ukraine fearing Russian retaliation. They also refused to to give Ukraine their Iron Dome anti missile system, fearing Russian retaliation in Syria.

Igor Kolomoisky is an interesting character. What a clusterfuck of a country.

Nah, they just don't want to help. They could easily have done both through a third party (country). They just don't give a shit about Ukrainians.
If it does not involve the destruction of Israel (like the Iranian threat) they will not get involved. So much for lessons learned during the holocaust.

That's not 100% why, it's proprietary Israeli tech and simply "handing it over" is an elongated, expensive and arduous process that also lends itself to being replicated or deconstructed by opposing parties if it were to fall into the wrong hands. Russia allows Israel to hit targets in North Syria, pissing them off is a giant threat to Israel, but Zelensky does not care.

Those numbers are definitely not real. 15k Russian soliers dead and 1.6k Ukranian soliders, yeah sounds legit. Ukraine is being decimated and I'm to believe that they are have only suffered 1/10th the losses of Russia. Absolute nonsense, and couldn't be much more unbelievable. I wouldn't put any stock into Ukraninan numbers after seeing that.

What do you want a source for?

What am I missing?

(I was hoping someone besides an obvious hack might give me an answer.)

Just my observation of being in these threads since early on but the pro-Russian sides seem to be roughly 4 groups. You have the pro-Russian shills and they pretty much just spout the Russian government propaganda as their own arguments, with variations.

You have a few Eastern Europeans close to the conflict who definitely aren't pro Russian but they don't want WWIII on their doorsteps so are pretty critical of the West inflaming tensions and would like Ukraine to fold to end this. Also there are some who live further a field and are very concerned about a nuclear war breaking out, they also want Ukraine to fold.

Then you have the Right wing westerners, mostly American Trump supporters, who seem to have taken Russia's side and have all of a sudden gotten really indignant about the 'horrible' racism and nazism within Ukraine plus they don't like the 'Globallist' meddling and also think that Ukraine should roll over.

And lastly you have the 'Whataboutists', America/NATO are terrible so why is everyone getting so upset when Russia does the same thing? They seem to be cheering for Russia a little too much despite claiming to be strictly impartial and pointing out apparent hypocrisy but only ever on one side of course.

There is a bit of crossover though especially with the Russia/Ukrainian+Western propaganda battles though.
