Seriously... the "but but but America did it to Iraq too" bullcrap is outrageous. You'd be hardpressed to find any sensible American that doesn't think the second Iraq war was horrific and embarrassing. There were also many, many Americans who opposed it and that number only grew over time.

This whole justification is really telling. When someone makes it, I almost immediately lose all respect for any sentence or cogent thought that comes after it. It's also a tell as to that person's core values - they're likely a Russian bot, pro-Putin, pro-fascims or bizarrely and ignorantly anti-state with reckless regard.

To those out there making this argument... at least learn from the American people - that was is now looked at shamefully as the Bush admin consciously misled the public for years and years. Don't make the same mistake.

What Putin is essentially threatening to do at Mariupol at this juncture is commit a form of genocide: ultimatums of military tribunal for all remaining residents is likely Gulag or death sentence based on identity, heritage and nationality. It's a crime on many levels and frankly, not up for debate. The indiscriminant targeting that has become common and widely confirmed is appalling.

Not to mention that Zelenski didn’t hide in a hole while his countrymen tore down his statues and greeted the Invaders as liberators.

Well, I'm not sure who are "Latvians descended from Russians"? They either have Russian (Russkies or other nations) roots or are Latvians (Latvians appeared as a result of the merger of the Baltic (Latgalians, Curonians, Semigallians and villages) and Finno-Ugric (Livs) peoples during the existence of medieval Livonia in the 13th-16th centuries).
We speak in Russian because I know only a few words in Latvian .

I'm not justifying civilian casualties and I believe its a way more complicated situation than that.
Just like I don't believe every civilian killed in ukraine is a war crime, but certain actions are. Intentionally targeting them, use of prohibited weapons. Hell, just threatening nukes against anyone that aides Ukraine should be as well.

Well they're saying the site it appeared on was hacked which looks likely as it isn't in line with previous Russian reports at all. As I said don't just believe anything you read just because it sounds nice

Not saying the 10.000 figure is correct, but the "official" Russian figure being lower isn't useful as proof it isn't true. Hardly a true word has come out of the Kremlin during the past three months.

And if Russia has in fact suffered 10.000 KIA, it isn't "nice" at all but a sad, bloody waste.

I agree, everyone wanted retribution after 9/11, I think most were confused when we went back to Iraq, I know I was.

I think at the time the sentiment was that Junior was going back to finish what Daddy started. In hindsight it seems more likely it was Cheney looking to do it and cash in on a new war.

I believe if either Zelensky or Putin is dead/killed this war will be over.

This is a war of five people. Zelensky and his Ukranian Oligarch master Ihor Kolomoisky, Putin, White Privilege Joe Biden and son of White Privilege Joe Biden.

I think the closes historical comparison is Mussolini. Italy joined WW2 by invading Greece. It was supposed to be a walk in the park but it wasn’t. Mussolini had surrounded himself with yes-man kronies who had embezzled a lot of the military budget and the army was nowhere near being ready for war. Mussolini’s secret service had told him that Greece would cave in without resistance, but instead they fought back so hard Germans had to come to rescue. Good thing that China will never become Russia’s ally in military sense and they are on their own unless you count Pussolini’s own Mini-Mussolini Lukašenka.

Putin didnt plan to kill people, it was just that Ukrainians didnt lay down like they were suppose to. Meaning what your intentions are have very little to do with the actual damage you create.
