I think it would be much easier to give the Ukrainians ground-to-air missiles to knock down Russian jets.
I think it could be done. Giving Ukraine MiG-29s from Poland. How many? Where would Ukraine park those planes to not be destroyed by the Russians? What airfield? They have the pilots, but can Ukraine do the maintenance, arming, and fueling of those planes? For how long?
I do believe China was heavily involved with the North Korean (Korean war) and North Vietnamese (Vietnam war) Air Force. I think some of their pilots even flew missions against the US. Did the US declare war on China? No.

Ukraine's air force is currently still operational. Much of the western areas of Ukraine are untouched.

If China gets involved, either directly on Russia's side or by starting a separate war over Taiwan, that's another matter entirely. But would that happen?

Ukraine's air force is currently still operational. Much of the western areas of Ukraine are untouched.

It's unrealistic though to expect them to keep it up, Russia hasn't really stepped up it's air power yet, I can't see Ukraine competing with it more than another week or two whether they get new planes or not. But air defense systems would give them a better chance. And shitloads more drones would be good
