International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V15

People's mental gymastics are wild.

If this was true, why would the U.S be an existential threat to your country? Why would you need to be constantly prepping for nuclear war with a country like this? It would be on par with Brits being paranoid about being attacked by someone like Burundi.

Remember, in NK, you have ONE channel, ONE radio station, and ONE newspaper.

That's it.

You're told that the IL family are Gods made manifest from the time of your birth until you die. It's not mental gymnastics when you're only told ONE thing every day, forever, with no chance to hear otherwise.

An overdubbed cartoon?
You do understand one can babble whatever over a cartoon?
I am not advocating North Korea btw, I know they don't prosper and I would not like to live there.
But I don't think anyone with a tiny bit of critical thinking would post that shit as proof in a political debate.

Nice post.

Yet, I don't see you disputing any of what I originally posted.

The main motif would be the dychotomy of Ukrainian heroes who fought alongside Russians as brothers, and nazi collaborators and their modern day heirs.

It is to this day taught in schools in Russia that from all USSR Ukraine lost second most people in WWII after Russia, and produced second most Heroes of the USSR after Russia.

However, Ukraine was never homogenous, since what we call "Ukraine" are in fact 3 very diffirent regions formed into one republic. Western Ukraine was never happy with becoming part of the USSR, and was always rather different from Russia, culturally and politically. They had lots of people who viewed Hitler as a liberator, at least in the early years of the war. Eastern Ukraine was mostly pro- USSR, and Novorossia (territories which are called DPR and LPR today) was effectively Russia, with everyone speaking Russian and being culturally identical to people from neighbouring Russian provinces.

Bolsheviks were terribly incompetent in the matter of national politics. They made a lot of mistakes we're suffering from till this very day.
Making East and West Ukraine parts of the same republic was a mistake. Probably if they held a vote and let Western Ukraine be independent or join Poland, it would be better for everyone, but alas.
This was an excellent post.
How do you feel about Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022?
How do you see this conflict ending and how it will affect Ukraine and Russia afterwards?

People were too busy trying to get some food on the table to hold referendums. Your irony is ill-founded here, the structures that could affect the outcome of the referendum were already shattered. And those who were in power at the moment made the opposite decision anyway.
Russia is very famous for free and fair referendums. Freest and fairest in the world.

Can't use oil for your war machine when the refinery is ablaze.

I am unhappy it came to an open conflict. I am unhappy with incompetence of Putin's foreign policy towards Ukraine and with how underprepared the military was. Seems that decisions were made based on many layers of false assumptions.

I do not wish war on anyone. But at the same time I see it as a result of a chain of provocations from the West and the Ukrainian elites. I very well remember Ukrainian politicians threatening to join NATO since I was a wee lad in the early 90's and I see why Putin sees Ukraine joining NATO as unacceptable.
To sum it up it's a power struggle among elites, and simple people are suffering for it.
This war only benefits warmongers and arms dealers.

I see the conflict ending with Ukraine losing territories and getting NATO peacekeeping forces stationed on its territory, also losing any economical independency due to huge debt and lack of people. They already are missing from 7 to 10 million people who fled the war, not counting killed and maimed. If those 10 million will not return, Ukraine is facing a very grim future no matter who rules it.

Future of Russia depends on how well we cooperate with our remaining allies and if they stab us in the back. If they don't, we'll do fine, if they do, we're kinda out of options.

Yea, everybody knows Kim is a dictator and has a cult of personality going on in his country, but do you seriously want anyone with more than 2 functioning braincells to think that all Northern Koreans believe he's a god, all the while pulling worms outta their butts?
That is sketch show level garbage.
How come South Korea hasn't won during 70 years against such a pathetic and degenerate foe, then?

Bro you tried to argue people wanted to stay in the crumbling USSR.

Don't be dissing other people's critical thinking skills.

Because many of them did. There are still millions of people wanting USSR back.
I am not one of them, by the way.

Because there's a ceasefire?

Come on man.

I don't see NATO peacekeeping forces stationed in Ukraine. The country has been ruined by this war. Much like Germany after WWII and the Confederate South in the US after the Civil War. The male population was made up of mostly old men and boys. I'm not sure what countries will be involved in rebuilding Ukraine, but I imagine after the conflict is over, Ukraine will become an afterthought. Israel and the Middle East have now taken center stage. Ukraine will join the ranks of unique countries in the world like Israel, Taiwan, North Korea, and the Vatican.

Russia will clearly come out the winner and recover from this conflict in about a year. It has learned its lesson and will build a better/stronger Army. Russia's 'Oreshnik' missile has been a game changer for the US and European allies. Russia has also proven it can destroy the American M1A1 tank, the Patriot air and missile defense system, and shoot down the F-16 fighter. Many lessons to be learned here by the US military. Also, our female soldiers now in Infantry units in the US Army and US Marines will make 'wonderful' soldiers. 🤣

Yes.
However we should talk more openly : for Slovakia and Hungary.
And not only just natural gas. Also crude oil, fertilizers, diesel fuel and lubricants...

For this directly is responsible Zelensky administration....nothing much had changed.
When Lukoil get more sanctions Zelensky allowed Slovakia and Hungary to weasel out from problems by changing crue oil supplier to Tatneftj ...thus far ....

Zelensky administration also is ensuring smooth natural gas transit and liquid fuels supplies for Transistria controlled by pro Kremlin oriented dreamers living in dreams about USSR No2....rebirth.

Multiple states had left before your "referendum" even took place.

Months later many of these countries voted overwhelmingly to leave in their own referendums. 180% swings don't happen in a couple of months bro.

I don't even think it's millions. If you could poll every citizen outside of Russia from a former USSR state:

Do you want the USSR back?

I don't think you get the 2 million yes votes required to get that S at the end of million.

Million maybe.

Do you think you can legitimately argue a case for that pluralization?

There things are even more weird: Fico and Orban not only wants to continue smooth natural gas and crude oil and fertilizers supplies...by using Ukraine as transit route...

Both Slovakia and Hungary does operate nuclear power plants serviced by ROSATOM and fueled with nuclear fuel supplied by Russian TVEL...

There ofc supplies should be done and also used nuclear fuel should be sent to Russia for reprocessing.
For this too best transit route is considered Ukraine for transit.

Orban even does wants to build next new nuclear reactor ...if they will build most likely it will be serviced by ROSATOM.....

I do not think our future is as bright as you paint it tbh. The military still has systemic problems, not speaking about the whole government. I do hope that we won't have false reports anymore at least.
