WARSAW, Poland (AP) — The U.K. prime minister said Tuesday the country is putting its defense industry on a “war footing” by increasing defense spending to 2.5% of GDP by the end of the decade, and pledged to send arms worth 500 million pounds ($620 million) to Ukraine.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak described the increase as the “biggest strengthening of our national defense for a generation.”

“In a world that is the most dangerous it has been since the end of the Cold War, we cannot be complacent,” Sunak said at a news briefing alongside NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a visit to Poland. “As our adversaries align, we must do more to defend our country, our interests and our values.”

Sunak promised an extra 75 billion pounds ($93 billion) in defense spending over the next six years. The target of 2.5% of GDP spending was a re-commitment of a target set by former Prime Minister Boris Johnson in 2022. Sunak previously said the goal would be met when economic conditions allow."

Best thing is that this 500 000 000 £ package isn't , it is weapons and ammo.
BTW IMHO at least from promised stuff these mentioned 4 m cartridges U.K really does have and these might be delivered really quickly...matter of few days. How quickly Ukr will manage to deliver them till frontlines is different question.

The stuff with small arms cartridges actually is very painful for Ukr because they excepted to get 4m cartridges from Slovakia as they get previous such batch however then Fico had been elected and he stopped supplies ....
So initially might look not important part of batch but actually it is....

Russia relatively successfully had pressed forward with some small gains. Increased usage of gliding bombs and did more CAS missions sorties than earlier.

Only one good new stuff for Ukr: they had managed to destroy S-300 battery radar with...." useless " according to trolls HIMARS....

Greece actually thus far didn't had agreed to send nor S-300 battery nor F-16.
IMHO this is cos Erdogan wants to start border dispute vs Greece. He is thinking that in possibly disputed areas are huge natural gas reserves. Maybe are, maybe aren't.

BTW Turkey is one from possible shells sources for Ukraine. Ofc they never will send shells to Ukraine, however maybe they might sell to other country and all we need is that they will forget to insert re export restriction clauses in sales contract.
Ofc not likely they will forget, still some little hope there is.
