International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V15

I don't that is right. If that was the case, there would be no Russians soldiers fighting in Ukraine.
Below is a list of Active-Duty Russian Units that have fought or are fighting in Ukraine.

How Russia's military uses volunteer fighters to plug gaps in Ukraine

They are not drafting for few years now, i have relatives who escaped that single draft wave in 2022 and recently returned to russia because its not a risk currently.

Plenty of poor people around who sign up, when they run out then they will start drafting again

How do you see the situation in Ukraine with their soldiers? Looks like everyone, regardless of MOS, is now going to the front to fight. Plus, Ukraine has a much smaller pool of men to draw from.

Igor Strelkov on possible peace talks

Statements by Russian officials that they are ready to talk with legitimate representatives of Ukraine, whom they somehow saw in the Verkhovna Rada and do not see in Zelensky, have left me deeply depressed.

In general, talking about negotiations with Ukraine in a situation where we have not inflicted a tangible defeat on the Ukrainian Armed Forces, when the enemy is still on the territory of the so-called "old" regions of the Russian Federation - this, in any case, is not a strong position. And in other respects... One of my comrades here very clearly noted, I will simply express his words, I fully agree with him: what difference does it make whether a legitimate partner or an illegitimate one will lead you by the nose.

It is absolutely clear that the Rada is filled with no less nationalist and anti-Russian elements than Zelensky's entourage. In principle, the entire current Ukrainian political class is no different from Zelensky. What our officials saw as more legitimate in the representatives of the State Rada of Ukraine, why they are ready to negotiate with them, I personally do not understand at all.

It is clear that Ukraine will drag out time until NATO countries are ready to provide it with direct military assistance on a larger scale and more decisively than they have done so far.

The fact that we are ready to negotiate, and are not ready to fight until victory is our weakness, this is the “Yugoslav option”, which I have spoken about many times

Well looks like NATO less US is going to carry on the load there goes US jobs building F-16's for Ukraine. I think this is the reason why Trump keeps threatening Canada and Greenland gives NATO something else to worry about image that US military could be use to invade a former friend.

That is the way it should have been since 1992.
NATO should have dissolved in 1992 after the collapse of the Soviet Union in December 1991.
European countries should build up their militaries and not rely on the United States. This conflict in Ukraine is a European problem. US nuclear missiles in Ukraine was never an option for Russia. Just like Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba was never an option for the US.

On paper since 1941. 1943. 1945. 1946 U.S might install as much troops as they does want in Greenland. These papers didn't had been changed since this and Pump just should put his money where his loud mouth is. He was POTUS 4 years in row.

There most likely yes.
Supreme lawmaker in Ukraine is Rada, this does have power like congress and senate in U.S. president AFAIAK even doesn't have legal power to change borders for example. Yes, he is Supreme chief of armed forces and might order where to hold and where not to hold.

Rada like Duma in Russia is . Most likely money hungry populists like this real life.
If they will elect Marianna in Ukraine, where she advised to conscript at least 50000 MoD bireucrats immediately and send them to frontline plus introduce real wartime economy ...huelensky might look for you like Santa Claus if she might agree to conscript even females.
Or ivanoff and morozov in russia: even drunk Medvedev might look like Santa Claus compare with these lawmakers elected.. not alone Putin.
