Samuel Newey: British volunteer 'killed in action' fighting in Ukraine
Mr Newey's brother has paid tribute to the 22-year-old's "courage, morality and honour".

A British volunteer has been "killed in action" fighting in eastern Ukraine, his brother has said.

Samuel Newey, 22, had travelled to the country to fight just before his 21st birthday.

His brother Daniel Newey wrote on Facebook: "I cannot put into words how broken I feel.

"I also cannot emphasise how proud I am of my little brother.

"He'd just turned 21 when he decided to answer the call and travel to Ukraine to push back against Russian imperialism.

"Sam, you gave your life for people you never knew and acted with courage, morality and honour."

The tribute added: "Not only are you my little brother, but you're an exceptional man, a good soldier and one of the bravest people I ever had the privilege of knowing.

"Thank you so much for being part of my life for these 22 years. I love you always brother."

The Foreign Office has said it is supporting the family of a British man following his death in Ukraine.

Samuel Newey appeared in court in February 2020 after he and his father, Paul Newey, were charged with terrorism offences for allegedly illegally assisting Daniel, who was a British volunteer fighting against Islamic State in Syria.

Charges were dropped against the pair following a Crown Prosecution Service review in July that same year.

The US says no to NATO and Russia keeps all their territory. In return, Russia promises to break off relations with China. No input at all from Ukraine.

why would anyone trust any agreement with Putin? There are two outcomes. 1. Putin thinks you are weak and reneges on the deal. 2. Putin thinks you are strong and needs to renege on the deal before you do it to him.

Russia has immense production capabilities, and the more western influence and involvement, the worse it will get for Ukraine long term. UKR cities in east have already been destroyed and Russia can't move anymore West by their failed winter offensive. Similar to West Point here in the US. That location is also not too well known for its Nuclear Fuel Factory (FCN), comprising three units. Brazil could have gone nuclear back in the 1970s but opted out. Brazil has a good market in weapons, both civilian and military. It chose to make a lot of its own military armament instead of importing it. Tauros handguns sell here in the US. They are not bad. Embraer has made both civilian and military planes used by the US. The military wheeled vehicles have sold to many countries in the world, to include Italy, Israel, Iraq and Iran. Ukraine could have benefited from a military arms purchase from Brazil. Good equipment at a reasonable price. The ParaFAL chambered for the 7.62 cartridge has always been a reliable weapon.
