You know, it's strange that people put the crimes of Stalin on Russia exclusively. The USSR was run by communists of many different nationalities, including many Ukrainian communists who helped the Red Army defeat the Ukrainian Republic. The first head of the Cheka was Polish; Stalin was Georgian; Trotsky was Jewish, etc.

It's strange to think that being forced at gunpoint to starve your children to death is not the worst case scenario.
There is obivious reason: modern Russia is continuing these traditions and society in Russia is taught history version approved by Joseph Stalin.

However purges in Stalin era more were aimed at minorities. Purges in communist party too btw.
Yeah, he built fundaments of Gulag camps literally on local russians bones...then after this ...minorities were were more often inmates in these camps.
Russia historically had proved that they prefer initially to use minorities who does trust them in order to achieve their goals and then ....to kill their friends.
Germany and Japan ofc were " special specimens " but now after WW2 they aren't aggressive and switched to " earn more money " mode.
Also russian society usually still is keeping to be in denial about genocide, war crimes ....always finding any possible excuses.

Correct, especially after WWII Stalin deported countless non-ethnic Russians to gulags. Many were coming home on trains from combat thinking they were going to greeted as heroes but the trains never stopped until they got to Siberia. Who doesn't love a good surprise!

Purges before world war 2 too were fun.
Lenin had supported also some % of poles and some batches had relocated to holy Russia.
