Russian tank captured by Ukrainian forces turns up at Louisiana truck stop

The combat vehicle was left on a low loader in the parking lot of a restaurant in Louisiana

"A Russian tank used in the assault on Ukraine has mysteriously appeared at a truck stop in the US.

The T-90 tank is thought to have been captured last September by Ukraine’s 92nd Separate Mechanised Brigade, after being used in fighting in the Kharkiv region of north west Ukraine.

The combat vehicle was left on a low loader in the parking lot of a restaurant in the state of Louisiana.

Local reports suggest that after the truck towing the tank broke down, the vehicle was left at Peto’s Travel Center and Casino in Roanoke, Louisiana, next to US Interstate 10.

Valerie Mott, the assistant manager of the restaurant, said: “I’ve been here seven years. I’ve never seen [a tank] here before,” according to The War Zone, an online publication.

Although the tank’s machine guns had been removed, much of its equipment appeared to be intact, including some explosive armour used for defence against anti-tank missiles.

Slab blocks on the front of the turret, each about the size of a folded copy of the Telegraph, would at some point have housed explosive reactive armour.

The tank’s owner and intended new home are unknown.

A US army spokesman at the Red River Depot in New Boston, Texas, about 240 miles north of the truck stop, said the tank was not going there.

“This tank is more than likely not heading to Red River, as we don’t refurbish any of its kind here,” the spokesman said."

The change in government is a long shot anyways. There's a few republicans who are coming out and not supporting the war but it's not all of them. On top of that I seriously wonder how these republicans would vote when it comes down to it. The MIC is poweful and I have hard time believing these republicans would actually stick to what they say once their vote is needed. Politicians like to say a lot of things in the public but it's when it's time to vote that's when you really understand where they stand.

Goes to show you how utterly incompetent people in charge are that is one of the most advance Russian tanks and some rich chud who likely wants to buy oil from Russia ended up forking over millions to get it shipped out of Ukraine. Russian forces may have actually started deploying antique T-54/T-55 series tanks on the battlefield in Ukraine. The sighting of one of these tanks, reportedly in southeastern Ukraine, comes around a month after trainloads of them were spotted on the move in Russia, prompting speculation that they would soon be taking part in the conflict.


Pictures and videos with a T-54/T-55 type tank in the background, said to have been taken recently in Zaporizhzhia, first emerged online earlier this week.

From what we can see, the T-54/T-55 that now appears to be with Russian forces in Zaporizhzhia is in stock condition. Its configuration and condition are very much in line with what was seen in pictures and videos of trains in Russia carrying T-54/T-55 tanks that first appeared online in March. This includes the markings on the front of the hull that are very reminiscent of those applied to Russian armored vehicles in storage, as can be seen in the video below.

This has all further pointed to the current limitations of Russia's defense industrial enterprises to produce sufficient numbers of new, more advanced tanks to meet the country's demands. There is also the question of sustaining existing stocks of newer types. More modern versions of Russia's T-90 tank series, for example, are known to make use of Western electronics that are no longer readily accessible. T-54/T-55 series tanks would be much easier to operate and maintain in the field compared to newer designs.
