International Russia is not a significant cyber threat to the U.S. anymore, Trump's new Defense Secretary says.

the replies to that will be - OMG HE FIRED A THREE STAR GENERAL AND PUT A TWO STAR GENERAL IN HIS PLACE!

So much "HE'S UNQUALIFIED!" to go around both before and after his confirmation. I just sat and observed as few people bothered to argue outside of "cope" posts. But one wonders what made Charles Wilson, Neil McElroy, James Schlesinger, Harold Brown, Dick Cheney, or William Cohen particularly qualified to be SecDef, lol. The majority of people don't even know who the fuck they are save for Cheney, much less that they never served in the US armed forces at all. The salacious and slanderous stuff was lame, dude. Like...

It could have been anyone and they would have been criticized.
politics today is absolutely disgusting.

Since the original post was clearly not accurate this thread has already been "slid" by page 2.

Now it's onto the SECDEF and Trump. I expect some Elon hate by page 3.

I expect to see "Nazi rich oligarchs" by page 4.

Russia stole many billions in pandemic money from the US according to both the Office of Inspector General and Government Accountability Office.

Obviously there should always be attention to it but I’d imagine the amount of resources provided to the Russia cyber security threat was much larger than the actual threat.

Troll farms, legally purchased advertisements, and doing what every other country does in promoting their interests in social outlets of other countries doesn’t amount to a serious threat.

That’s basically the extent of all they’ve been accused of. There is the DNC emails but I don’t think it was ever confirmed as Russia AND their password was “password”

Russia’s cyberwar capacity was greatly overstated because democrats needed an excuse for losing an election and to advance the Russia hoax

Again, China much more aggressively does all these things to crickets.

Iran also did more known cyber attacks this past election to more crickets

Still no clarification offered from Trump administration since initial report and republicans don't seem to have received and direction either.

Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-Florida) also seemed thrown off when he was asked about the decision on Fox News. “I’m sorry, who’s doing that?” Gimenez stammered. “I don’t know why he’s doing that,” he said.

Omg i almost felt bad for Turner, he is desperate. Could feel his pain when he said "Zelensky should trust Rubio as he is ALSO involved". Here he actually admits he doesn't trust other people in the white house

Trump’s Defense Secretary Hegseth Orders Cyber Command to ‘Stand Down’ on All Russia Operations

“Russia and China are our biggest adversaries. With all the cuts being made to different agencies, a lot of cyber security personnel have been fired. Our systems are not going to be protected and our adversaries know this,” a source, who was familiar with the internal memo, told The Guardian. “People are saying Russia is winning. Putin is on the inside now.”

"Hegseth gave the instruction to Cyber Command chief Gen. Timothy Haugh, who then informed the organization's outgoing director of operations, Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Ryan Heritage, of the new guidance, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the matter’s sensitivity."

Pete Hegseth’s instructions to focus on China and Iran rather than Moscow emerge despite warnings of high attack risk

“With a cyber attack, Russia can turn the lights off for millions of people. It can shut down the power grids. This is the hidden war Russia is waging with Ukraine.”

Remember when trump said infront the world in Hilskinki-

He trusts the K.G.B more than the US intelligence?

Putin has instructed him again.

God help us all.

Can you call something a threat still after they've won?
