Republicans refusing to continue Trump investigation





Republicans are refusing to name new witnesses in the Congressional investigation into the Trump campaign's alleged collusion with Russia during the 2016 election and may be prematurely winding down the probe, according to the ranking Democrat in the House Intelligence Committee.


Firing off a nine-tweet thread on Friday, Adam Schiff (D–California) warned he had become “increasingly worried Republicans will shut down the House Intelligence Committee investigation at the end of the month,” before going on to explain that the Majority hasn’t lined anyone up to testify after Dec. 22.




“Yet, Republicans have scheduled no witnesses after next Friday and none in 2017. We have dozens of outstanding witnesses on key aspects of our investigation that they refuse to contact and many document requests they continue to sit on,” he wrote.




He also said Republicans are skirting their duties to obtain the documents they need for the investigation, which has been ongoing since January.

“Despite our repeated urging, Majority has declined to issue subpoenas in numerous avenues of the investigation, where there's simply no other way to get the information. Some refusals we’ve made public, like witnesses hiding behind nonexistent privileges, many others we haven’t,” Schiff tweeted.

He wrote that Republicans have further complicated the investigation by planning to interview two witnesses out-of-state next week, forcing lawmakers to choose between attending the depositions or voting on the tax bill. He added that the witnesses were able to come to Washington, D.C.

The witnesses are reportedly Trump’s longtime assistant Rhona Graff and Felix Sater, a Trump associate who worked on a deal to construct a Trump Tower in Moscow, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Schiff said shutting down the Congressional probe would then give Republicans justification to curtail special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with Russia.

Why do you call it smears? It's a fact that hillary bought the DNC and tilted the primary. It's a fact that hillary deleted her emails after they were subpoenaed. It's a fact the FBI agents who investigated were highly political, they didn't even take notes or put hillary under oath, meaning she could not be charged with lying to the FBI when we know she lied to the FBI because she lied to Matt Lauer on TV when she said she had no classified emails on her server. Those are not smears, they are facts.

The crowd that ceered on wikileaks illegal hacking and thinks its a waste of time to investigate it thinks its an outrage Mueller legally obtained emails.

It appears the Obama Administration weaponized the Federal Bureau of Investigation just like they weaponized the Internal Revenue Service.

The Obama administration used government agencies to wage a covert war on their political enemies. This is an all-out war.

We have a growing of mountain of evidence to suggest the FBI was attempting to overthrow a duly elected president. We have evidence to suggest the FBI was protecting Hillary Clinton so she might be elected president.
There is no smoking gun just yet – but the evidence is staggering – it is simply staggering.

The danger the Trump Administration is facing from Special Counsel Robert Mueller and his team of investigators is mounting. There are signs many on his team pledged their allegiance to Hillary Clinton.

“We are at risk of a coup d’etat in this country if we allow an unaccountable person with no oversight to undermine the duly-elected President of the United States,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said on the House Floor. “And I would offer that is precisely what is happening right now with the indisputable conflicts of interest that are present with Mr. Mueller and others at the Department of Justice.”

Gaetz also warned President Trump personally that the Mueller investigation is infected with bias – a charge echoed by the White House.

“It is troubling, deeply troubling that the revelations have come to light there is extreme bias against this president with high up members of the team at the FBI,” J. Hogan Gidley told Fox & Friends.

Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) told the Todd Starnes Radio Show there are “very serious implications.”

“We are concerned the people involved had a clear and open bias against Donald Trump and in favor of Hillary Clinton. That’s a big deal for the American people,” Johnson said.

“We know from texts and emails – those who were assigned to this investigation – gave largely to Democrats. It looks like an obvious bias here. When we have that kind of smoke there is almost always going to be fire behind that,” he added.
