Why are they reporting this now, rather than around the time that it happened?

Looks like meetoo is having relations with Pfizer, beacons of truth.

He's been doing his "counter narrative" shit for a few years now. He's not suddenly gaining a lot of attention at the tail end of 2023
He started blowing up a year or two at most, when the investigations started

Fuck this is drastic, he was my favourite stand-up for ages. His 2 auto-biographies are 2 of the best I've ever read. If he did this then I can only assume it was during his fucked up junkie phase and he didnt have a clue he was doing it...not that it's an excuse.

Fuck.

Its probably bullshit, or exaggerated.

Reeks of a political hitpiece, due to his increasing popularity as a 'anti-establishment journalist' and there's numerous interests in shutting him up or at least mostly discrediting him.

He's 48, has been famous for a while, both before & after Katy Perry. It would be a complete surprise if he was an angel with his interactions with women. Most men aren't, and relatively no male celebrities are.

I just checked. In 2019 his videos got an average of 100-200K views and he talked about inoffensive new agey and self-help topics. In 2021 he started being critical of restrictions and various chess moves by large corporations and government, and his average views per video shot up to 1M, 1.5M each. So that's 1.5M people per video listening to a narrative that directly threatens the powerful. In other words the argument that he might have gone from non-threat -> threat is very reasonable; your argument is rubbish.

That undermines the "counter narrative" BS, no? He's putting out a narrative that is profitable after finding out that being true to himself (and still dumb) didn't work.

His entire career was built on him being a drugged up lothario with zero filter. He got fired from MTV for showing up to work the day after 911 dressed up as an Arab.

If he did it then fuck him, I just really can't see it. I really can't.

Until his political bollocks he was one of my favourite people celebrity wise, so funny. I'm likely the only one here to have read his books but he had me running to the dictionary a few times.

He was also fucked up on cocktail of drugs at that time.

As I said, he wasn't an angel.
Probably mentally abusive relationships.

You can judge him for what he was then, or judge him for the man he's become now.

Personally, I've heard his commentary and its mostly not my thing. But he's been a positive influence since he's began posting on YouTube to his audience.

I prefer to mostly forgive people for sins from decades ago.

Discussing this with husband who didn't read his books like I did but liked him equally till he got all political he thinks he may have done it but he was so off his face...I don't think he would have been FORCEFUL though, who fucking knows. I'll be really quite upset if he did...but I really can't see it.

I've never watched any of his videos so I don't know whether he is or not, but is there a single right wing voice who doesn't get labeled a grifter on this sub-forum? I don't think there is.

Pretty sure Russell Brand is left wing. He just seems to believe there is a deep state and that the prospect of an unelected bureaucracy colluding with mega corporation wielding power is actually a bad thing. That seems to be enough to make him “right wing” but most liberals used to think that was a bad thing back when they weren’t confident the unholy alliance of government agencies(FBI, medical establishment) and corporations could work in their favor.

Russell Brand is a left wing guy that specifically hated the western covid response but also recognizes who benefits from the bias and corruption. Neoliberals. Democrat party. He also acknowledges that Trump and his supporters don’t always get fair treatment. I’m less versed on his stances In UK politics.

He used to shit on the mainstream media corruption in 2014 as well when he was considered a top leftist voice. In fact, I think Vox or a similar left wing rag ranked him as the top left wing intellectual with guys like Chomsky. Just about none of his stances have changed. Maybe a decade ago, he even did a similar viral whimsical rant on mainstream media as a guest on Morning Joe on MSNBC that he did earlier this year on Bill Maher. The message was nearly identical, but the left didn’t lap it up like they did back then because something has changed with self identified liberals…not Brand

He’s not out there spouting the virtues of capitalism or digging in on culture war stuff…but he spent a little too much time railing against the covid response coupled with big pharma for the lefts liking. Even now that he mostly is interviewed on conservative shows, he’s pretty polar opposite ideologically from guys like Ben Shapiro when the conversation drifts away from the media and government narratives.

As for the accusations. If the Sunday Times has evidence of one his accusers visiting a rape center the same day AND text of Brand acknowledging it..as they claim. Then I think they should present it, the medias credit limit reached and breached some years ago so I’m not taking their word for it.

The other accusations are typical for coordinated “out come the wolves” MeToo pile ons of jilted groupies who regret being used when in retrospect it didn’t advance their social life. Can neither be proven or disproven, so they can only be dismissed after so long,

They said one has proof. I’m willing to believe that if they present it and judge Brand’s character accordingly

I could be wrong, but this sounds like a co-ordinated hit job. Why is this being released now?

The eye of Sauron seems to be focusing on Russel Brand for some reason, completely out of the blue … makes me think that he pissed off someone in power.
Jonathan Ross and Richard Ayoade have come under scrutiny this week. Remember Brand and Wossy years back with Radio 1 and Manuel?
