Conor McGregor is training for the Diaz rematch at UFC 200 in Iceland , a must win fight . McGregor contacts the UFC to say he is staying in Iceland to train rather than travel to the US to cover his media obligations .

In response uncle Dana throws his toys out of the pram ( who does this guy think he is no one is bigger than the UFC) and tells McGregor if doesn't attend his press obligations you don't fight .

In return McGregor and his huge ego ( who does this guy think he is i am the UFC) throws his toys out the pram and calls Dana's bluff ' i'm not doing the press conferences so pull me from the card '. Thinking no way is Dana going to back up his threats .

The UFC tell McGregor he is being pulled from the card , using the instancy of twitter McGregor acts like a baby and tweets he is retiring . In response the UFC announce McGregor has been pulled from the UFC 200 Card.

Why can't this be so ? The UFC have form for exactly this scenario with Nick Diaz .

Instead we have a series of made up rumours . The Carvalho death has badly effected him so he has decided to retire, he has retired and then will come back to avoid USADA testing , he has been pulled to build the GSP fight etc etc

One of these is now gospel 'McGregor asked for 10 million dollars to fight Diaz and the UFC refused'.
From what i can make out this is something that was made up by somebody on the internet , without an inkling of credibility to back it up .However it has now become the 'truth' , with a life of it's own on the world wide web , numerous threads , articles , even a poll 'is McGregor worth 10 mill ?' just on this site Sherdog alone .

Sometimes things are just exactly as they seem .

If you're right, Dana is incredibly stupid if it is just about the presser.

It's not as much fun for internet nerds.

It's a fucking soap opera. Your points are valid, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was more to this story. Nice post though.

I love how in all of this, nobody's yet brought up Conor's rant prior to the Diaz fight where he said this will be his last fight in Vegas. Specifically, he was complaining about travel time from Ireland and time difference.

To me it's just that simple. Conor didn't want to go to Vegas, Dana said 'fuck you, you're going to Vegas to promote the fuck out of this thing', Conor says 'no, I'm your biggest star, I get to decide when, where and whom I fight, Dana responds 'Fuck off kid, I'll show you who runs things around here, guess what Goof, you're off the card.' Conor now has two choices, either fold or try to one-up Dana, he goes for the one-up and pulls the retirement card, solely with the goal of setting the MMA world on fire, thus proving that he still generates more interest than anyone else.

But isn´t Dana just a puppet, it´s what Renz and uncle Frank says that matters.

How does this make DW stupid? Dana is still going to get paid. Dana isnt solely in charge of the ufc and dana and the fertitas cannot let fighters take cards hostage or things will go to hell in a hurry with everyone and there brother useing that as a last choice negotiating tactic.

I swear its basic business and you dont seem to get it.

Now go ahead and tell me bout how your a ceo and make a bil a year and I dont know shit

No, but it will cast a shadow at least over UFC 200 unless they sign GSP. No one else on the roster can generate as much media and PPV as Conor right now on the current roster.

That doesnt matter. Having an event get jacked up even a big one is better in the long run than giving fighters the greenlight to take the company hostage at a whim. It sucks for us fans I agree with you on that but it was the right call to make.

Perhaps. We'll see how this all shakes out. I see your point.

Great press conferences without McGregor " Sorry folks Conor can't be here , he is training in Iceland " , but please Nate is here so ask away " aaah mother fuck@r, Mother fuck@r aaaah , (silence) . aah mother aaah mother fuck@r"

They need both Diaz and McGregor at all media obligations to sell PPV's simple.

Dana is the front man

The renz and frankie are blatant shady ex mafia family casino types

Stupid for holding him to the same standard as every other fighter? After he let him handpick his fight that makes zero sense and one that nobody cares to see just so Conor can get his revenge? Ya Dana is completely doing Conor a huge injustice here..

He's stupid by losing gate and PPV revenue.

It's clearly about money. Everything Conor has done in the UFC up until now revolves around paychecks. I don't suspect anything has changed.

He thinks he's michael jordan, retiring and coming back to a huge fanfare. This guys ego is way off the charts

Ya..Dana is a terrible businessman, no credentials at all. Conor is trying to make himself bigger than the UFC, and he is not. The UFC was here before Conor, and will go on just fine without him. It isn't like Conor has been this huge draw for 7 years. He was a flash in the pan. the Conor train was derailed at 196, and will never be the same. I assure you UFC 200 (without Conor)will be a bigger draw than 196..(which had Conor on it).

Auntie Dana and co do not negotiate with terrorists. They ARE the terrorists.
