Saw this on the rumor mill on multiple sites yesterday, and it seems legit and not just wishful thinking.

Disney itself is most likely is releasing these 'rumors' as a mean to guage public reaction before anything is official. Disney is worth a large fraction of a trillion dollars with a sizable PR department, and their higher-ups do not make these decisions on a whim.

For those who are not in-the-know - Kathleen Kennedy is the President of LucasFilm since its been bought off by Disney from George Lucas. She's mostly been held responsible for the decisions that have made infuriated loyal fans of the Star Wars franchise over the last year.

*Hired Rian Johnson to write/direct The Last Jedi, and approved his script for the film.
*Approved the SJW-themes in recent Star Wars movies.
*Joined in the criticisms of fans who criticized the films.
*Her decision to approve the Solo movie's production, and failed to closely monitor it led to its numerous production catastrophies and expensive reshoots - nearly doubling its budget.

And financially -

*Lower sales numbers of Star Wars merchandise/toys than expected.
*Lower BluRay sales of the 3 Disney Star Wars releases than expected.
*Ep8 had the worst 2nd weekend dropoff of any Star Wars movie ever (68%), and brought in $700 million less than Ep7 - FAR less than expected.
*Solo is now expected to raise $80 million less than its estimated production budget - Not including its advertising budget.

But, if the rumor is confirmed to be true - there's also a rumor Kennedy will be able to hand-pick her successor, and that would be Kiri Hart.

Yup, she's the leader of Lucasfilm Story Group, and the fact she's to be Kennedy's hand-picked successor is all we need to know to hope she doesn't get the job.

And, probably, she won't get the job. She's a writer, and never produced a film in her career, and is by no means qualified to lead the production of a multi-billion dollar film franchise.

Rumors say the official announcement for the LucasArts change will be in September. We'll see if these rumors are legit within a few months.

Thoughts?

With how lackluster these movies have been so far, they gotta do something. Firing the person in charge seems like a good step.

I wouldn't be surprised at all the way things look to be heading financially with Star wars along with all the production troubles, what I'v heard about Solo just seems like bad management to me, directors who couldn't deliver and were kept it place for far too long.

Honestly I did wonder rather how well anyone who followed Lucas would do, he seemed to rule with such an iron fist that anyone else wouldn't really have much experience making big decisions.

I did really like Rogue One but honestly I put the majority of that down to Gareth Edwards(and Tony Gilroy) who really seemed like a real Starwars fan plus someone who had knowledge of so many areas of production.

I was expecting her to "resign" after episode 9 released. My interest in these movies has already tanked, so at least this could provide some entertainment. If she does get fired, I'll be awaiting the following announcement of the Rian Johnson trilogy getting scrapped.

Women ruin everything except sex and and sandwiches and at times they ruin those too

Disclaimer: not a SJW

They have this mentality where if a woman is in a role and she isn't successful, it's like "oh well, that proves women suck at x" yet there's not that same standard applied to guys who shit the bed on their watch. So is this now proof the "experiment" failed?

The money dictates she should probably lose that position. As divisive as TLJ was, it still made bank. That ain't saving her ass here.

Don't get my hopes up @GearSolidMetal. Hopefully it is true though, too bad they can't just redo Ep. VIII and make TLJ non canon. I know that would never would happen though.

Stupid people suck at doing things, regardless of their sex. Seems that Kennedy is incompetent. I don't care who the producer is - man, woman, trans, identifies as Apache attack helicopter - as long as said producer is good at, well, producing quality movies.

It did make bank... but not as much bank as Disney was expecting because the word-of-mouth was poor.

It had a 68% dropoff for the second weekend, and made $700 million LESS than The Force Awakens. It wasn't expected to make more, only slightly less, but not $700 MILLION less.

TBF I could drop a deuce and slap STAR WARS on it and it would make bank. The dropoff is indicative of bad word of mouth. People stopped buying this shit and it has showed with Solo(which I perosnally enjoyed but I understand the bad performance at the Box Office) Look at Inifinity War and the MCU shitting all over SW recently.

Its the same both ways here though I'd say, some of the criticism is sexist yes but equally I think the Starwars sequels and Kennedy have clearly been hiding behind politics.

Something like Aliens, T2 or Fury Road, THAT is a good feminist action film, not just one with a "Strong Female Lead",

I'm sure Disney thought the same when they spent $4 billion for the franchise.

Yet, Solo flopped BADLY.

Men have a long track record on their side. Women dont

I keep saying this in all SW threads....it doesn’t take a genius to know what fans want....Good dynamic cast, decent plot, great action, and stay faithful to the original spirit. Leave the political SJW shit that is ruining Hollywood out. Don’t put people of color or women into roles just because they are people of color or women. The Chubby Asian girl in TLJ is an example. Laura Dern is another. You want to make Ghostbusters women, Oceans 11 Women, Annie black, James Bond black, just for the sake of being enlightened, you will have a failure.

brought in $700 million less than Ep7 - FAR less than expected.

Still #11 all time worldwide at 1.3B worldwide and #8 all time domestically at 620M. Only TFA, infinity war, avengers, and black panther have done better for disney. It's arguably the best Star Wars movie of all time. I only have it behind Empire(but that's probably due to nostalgia).

She has literally ruined Star Wars. Bye bitch
Its own lack of creativity ruined it.
Don't try anything new, here are the things you've seen! Clap because we show you what you're familiar with because it's Star Wars!!!!!!!!
You know you want to fork over your money you fucks, it has the logo on it that drives your slavish brand -I mean fan- devotion.

Empire is probably the best sci fi movie fantasy ever made and is in my top ten of all films.
It's a masterpiece.
