Royce Gracie on UK fighters

I doubt roger has been there for more than 10 years. (I don't know tho)

Wow. Way to disrespect a whole country you drugs cheat. For a country of babies you don't half like handing out blue belts for cash at your seminars Royce.

LOL. he is just stating the facts. They came to the US first and people here have been training longer cant really argue that. How many European BB world champs did we have this year?

Have Rorion or Royce made any BB world champs?

I actually think hes right, we are less developed now compared to the US for example. My instructor has said much the same too.

Why are you limiting it to Rorion and Royce?

Yeah its as a country as a whole, just like you could argue that Europe is ahead of Africa in BJJ. There is a reason why the Brasilians win the big comps and you have to consider that only a fraction of the top guys are able to make it over here to compete to do financial reasons. I believe this year was they had many guys come over from different belt levels.

Because Royce was referring to himself and Rorion in the TS post.

He basically referred to his teaching for 25 years + his brother Rorion for the past 40 years in the US.

I think he forgot his cousin Roger is there. ^^

I pretty sure that he knows his cousin IS there...but that doesn't make him British. I'm also fairly certain that when Royce says, "Right now in England they are about 10 years old [in ground skills]" that he ISN'T talking about one of the greatest grapplers of all time...who happens to be Brazilian.

It is the Grace way to say things like this. Things that are sort of true, but controversial.

I think what he meant is more along the lines of if it wasn't for his brother, him and his other brothers coming over, Alliance, Atos, GB and everybody else wouldn't matter, wouldn't exist or would be in Brazil only. I don't think he meant he and Rorion were/are teaching alone or making champions. He meant they brought it over much longer ago than it reached England and for that reason the U.S. has more experience.

Yep. He obviously meant locals.
When Roger went to England he was already Roger. Roger is Brazilian and learnt BJJ in Brazil.

As a Brit i would have to agree with this, you could even go as far as to say its even younger.

I would love to know the statistics on how many UK BBs are not from Brazillian lineage.

I don't think this is just sort of true. It's the logical truth. To say England has the same level as in the U.S. would be as wrong as saying the U.S. has the same level as in Brazil.
Are there English grapplers that could beat American and Brazilian grapplers? I don't see why not. Is the general level as high as the U.S? Nope. There are a lot more great grapplers in the U.S. than in England. Just like there are a lot more great grapplers in England than probably in Germany and other parts of Europe.

Dude. We all know what he said.

He only talked about himself and Rorion.

The champions query was with gannas.
