So apparently someone from the Texas State Athletic State Commission said that Royce will be able to wear a Gi if he chooses to on Saturday night. Seems kind of weird as he has not fought with a gi in quite some time. His latter fights with Saku and Hughes he just wore traditional fight trunks.

Will the Gi serve as an advantage or disadvantage if he wears it?

Advantage for sure.

Could work for or against him. At this stage i would probably wear it if i train with it all the time . I would say the down side is Shamrock could use it more like i hockey fight standing up and just use it as leverage just to keep the fight standing in general . I believe Royce has to get to his back without taking a direct shot and hopes he can gait Shamrock into making mistake thats the only way i see him winning here . Isay go with the gi even though its risky and not a real advantage i believe it will serve him better on his back assuming he makes it there.

Will there also be Gracie train walkout?

Would be typical of Royce. He always expected special rules for himself.

While I agree it's BS that it seems they make special exceptions for Royce, I think it's cool we'll get to see MMA in a gi again..

PLEASE

that would be fucking great

and if he got a gi choke.... HHHNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG

Advantage only if he is allowed to grab it (ezekiel chokes and shit). Disadvantage if Ken can grab it too.

I'm kinda hoping he wears the gi. For style and tradition.

Royce said he was STILL 178 lbs......LIAR, he is 190. Does a Gi weigh 12 lbs?

haha he has put on weight for sure, he is a little broader than he used to be. I saw Royce at a seminar in 2014 and honestly he isn't much smaller than 200 Ibs.

According to the TDLR:

61.111. Mixed Martial Arts. (Amended effective February 1, 2005, 30 TexReg 378; amended effective February 1, 2006, 31 TexReg 481; amended effective December 1, 2007, 32 TexReg 8470)

(e) Contestants may wear shorts, trunks, wrestling singlet, or traditional martial arts Gi, unless otherwise instructed by the Executive Director. Knee braces without metal are permissible. Contestants may not wear shoes of any kind during competition. A male contestant may not wear a shirt during competition.

If Royce does where his Gi.....I SERIOUSLY will throw my boot threw my television is Royce tries choking Ken out with some cheap ass Gi assisted choke. Like the one that Yoshida did to someone where he had top position, one arm behind the guys neck, then one arm straight across on top, then he grabbed each cuff of his Gi and the dude couldn't breathe. Now if that isn't cheating, I don't know what is.........What if he takes one arm completely out of the sleeve and raps it around Ken's neck? Fair?

I hope Frank is cornering him and puts and end to that nonsense!

If he does get to where a gi, Then shamrock better be allowed the grab onto it too. The rules generally say you can grab your own trunks, but not your opponents. So if that rule stays true and he gets to wear a gi with it, it's an insane advantage for Gracie.

It's not cheating, it's called Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Don't post if you are gonna sound like a clown.
