Rothwell: "He's hitting me"

he should have tried implementing some different strategies at this point
plan B
because he was going no where with what he was doing by this point in the fight
You see it a lot that when a fighter gets hit to the body over and over they lose the ability to adjust. Maybe it has to do with pain.

Anyone else read Jack Slack's article raving about Rothwell's window? He holds out his arms to defend so that it seems like opponents are hitting him but it's rare and never flush.

So when he went to his corner he said "He's hitting me" after the 2nd round. JDS was too crisp and fast. After that he looked scared and lost. I always feel bad for JDS's opponents when he fights well.

Might as well include the article: http://fightland.vice.com/blog/ben-rothwell-birth-of-a-contender

I felt a little bad for Rothwell because before the fight he said that his advantage is that he has no fear. Then he went on to look kind of scared and lost in the JDS fight.

Damage (or being tired/gassed) on general have that effect

And lets not forget. Tested positive.

I always thought the weird arm movements were to try and lure opponents in, so they'd stand and bang with him. Getting hit wasn't actually too much of a problem during the fight, the main problem was he barely hit JDS back.

i think that is more of a testament to how nice a person the big goofy mofo ben really is! :D

Barnett was tagging him until he decided to clinch and then he got subbed. Same thing with the mitrione fight. Rothweell can only win brawls, his stand up is horrible and he's super slow. Rothwell could be champ if they started a super hw division

Barnett was losing the standup. That's why he shot.

This is true in some way, but is also true that MMA make orthodox technical striking harder

Boxing is like fencing and start from the premise that the other dude will have a similar rapier and swing it in similar style

MMA is like have a rapier in a place where peoples use swords, axes, spears, katanas, hammers and chainsaws.
And often the other dude not only use a different style but will trade a rapier in the belly with an axe in your skull.

Wich does'nt make the rapier less deadly, but definitely the pure fencing harder to apply

Said that yes, sometimes HW is about gorillas clubbing the shit out of each other with tree branches

Incredibly well put. May have to steal that analogy.
