Rothwell gogo choke possibly illegal?

Ben seems like the kinda of guy who would do anything (even illegal) to win.

That said, the choke seems like it's within the rules.

Actually youre probably right but then again Matt might be too dumb to know that he should be bitching about it. They dont call him meathead for nothing.

I always thought it was a bit odd it is allowed in the UFC.

I have to disagree with you hear, Barnett is vocal in illegal techniques, also he was on a real run in the UFC at the time and this loss essentially ruined his chances at another title shot.
 
Not even close to illegal.

It's just a crushing technique, instead of a choke. I can't even imagine how much it would hurt having a guy like Rothwell clamp down on your throat. I've been guillotined in somewhat similar ways in training by guys nowhere near as strong and it hurt like a motherfucker. Insta-tap material.

That is perhaps pushing legally somewhat though as its using part of the hand rather than the forearm as with say Fedor's RNC.

Nice call, Ethan who joined on Monday. Its definitely an air choke not a blood choke but much in the same way a fighter pulls the head down on the shin bone during an actual gogo, Rothwell uses his stomach or chest to press it in. It is an unusual technique to say the least. When he used it against Mitrione I wasn't sure what it was but then he used it again on Barnett and Barnett doesn't tap to anything. I can honestly say, Big Ben has brought something to the table that I can't think of a single example of it ever being used outside of Ben. That is not to say that Ben came up with it, because it was taught to him, but still, it caught two fighters back to back, one of them never been tapped.

The gdamn choke doesn't even have a name, Sherdog lists it as a guillotine but Ben corrected that in an interview and said it was not a guillotine choke.
 
Nah.

But those steroids that
they both pissed hot for
were definitely illegal.
