He also said UFC isn't paying him enough for what he's worth. He said he was gonna get paid 50k against Lombard in London.

Via Rory's interview with Ariel Helwani on the MMAHour, Rory's main event fight against Wonderboy on the Ottawa card is the last on his contract and he isn't happy with the multiple offers the UFC has given him. Rory would be a huge free agent signing for any organization.

What do you guys think?

Dayum, I wonder how many more Zuffa fan boys will defend them over fighter pay if folks like Rory switch to other orgs due to pay issues.

Is he aware of the Reebok money on top of his contract?

rory's announced purse for his trainwreck fight of the year against lawler was $59000. and with the reebok bullshit in place, thats pretty fucking lame

Probably why they gave him Wonderboy
Might not work out for them though. Rory is one of the tougher fights for Wonderboy in my opinion. If he crushes Thompson and leaves for more money, that decision will have backfired horrifically

If Bellator can snatch him up, that would be huge for them. MacDonald, Henderson, Davis are all top tier fighters.

If they let Rory slip away they may as well pack it in. Just heard about mitrione too - wtf!!

I would not fight Lomabrd for 50k, more like 500k then yahh.

The damage they are taking is not worth such shit pay.

Much stiffer competition for him outside of the UFC, honestly. As good as Lawler and Condit are, and as much as I'm sure Rory would like to rematch either or both of them, Askren, Palhares, and Shields are all better fighters. Rory leaving would just further the talent gap between the UFC welterweight division and the rest of the world.

I'm all for it.

Did they at least offer him salt with the peanuts?

Great 1-2 punch to start the thread

On topic, can't believe he isn't getting satisfactory offers following the Lawler fight. Happy to hear he's seriously considering leaving but comes with some anger, aimed at the UFC

Too bad though that Overeem and Sterling resigned. I would rather see more talent dissipate to other leagues. Nothing like competition to bring out the best product.

Yep. Mitrione isn't a bad signing either. Good mid tier HW in a division that is hurting for talent in all promotions. I wish they could have come away with Sterling and Overeem.

50k is a lot of money. Rory's not exactly the most charismatic guy and, let's face it, most of his UFC fights have been snoozefests, so I get it.
