Rory Macdonald appreciation thread

He's the best WW in the world besides Robbie Lawler. He beats Tyron but Robbie beats him. And Tyron beat Robbie. Such a clusterfuck.

also he dropped a round that could have been a 10-8 to Maia who got 50-45d by Woodley

Been a big fan of Rory ever since he entered the UFC , I was pissed they let him go but hey as long as he is making more money you gotta be happy for him

On August 31st, Rory said he'd fight Mousasi if they both had belts.Gegard would ABSOLUTELY DESTROY Lawler at 185 so I see Rory taking a beating in that one.

I remember the Wonderboy fight being super close, but having seen everyone in here saying he got dominated, i just checked the scorecards and there were 2 50-45's! What did i watch?!

Robbies test levels were literally the same as silverback gorilla during mating season, and Rory wasn't impressed

It was a point fighting match, there weren't very many moments of splashy domination. I remember watching it and thinking Rory was doing well, until I realized that there were only two rounds left and he had landed almost nothing clean. And then the last two rounds he got leaked from his nose and handled.
 
Couldn't finish an inflated fringe top 10 lightweight in Nate Diaz.
Kinda just sums up how lacklustre the Welterweight Division is.

All that aside. He'd probably be champ if he stayed in the UFC, he's already beaten Woodley.

Rory didn't bring a great plan for Wonderboy and struggled to gain any momentum. Another fight between the two would probably be quite different. It is a definitive loss for Rory, but not one that he is incapable of getting back. Similar to Rory's fight with Condit. Robbie on the other hand seems to have Rory's number.

50-45 scores are not indicitive of a domination. Sometimes the fight is just so close that one fighter just has a slight edge. If we were seeing 10-10 rounds many of these domination claims would fall apart.

Yeah you're right, idk what my deal is you weren't even offensive. Must've been late.

I guess real recognize real, Rory probably saw how great Robbie's TDD, and decided not to waste his energy on TDS?
 
The only WW Rory cannot beat is Wonderboy. RDA may be a challenge as well but Rory matches up well with everyone else

He wasn't able to beat prime Robbie but he would likely win in a 3rd match due to Robbie's wear and tear and gradual decline.
