2008 Beijing Olympics 70kg judo bronze medal winner Ronda Rousey's MMA debut!
She kicks ass!
Wow, awesome! There's a pretty sweet video of her in a nogi tournament doing an awesome throw as well.
Why's that dude beating up on a girl?
That is not a fight I would want to take....
Congrats Ronda! +1 for Judo
Another super fast finish.
What is it about Judo people and leglocks?
What is what?
I love it. Besides the beautiful throw my favorite part is the cameraman in the back who cringes when he sees the throw.
Yep, that's the one. Damn, what a throw!
Sweet match, very big difference in skill level though but I guess she wanted to test the waters first before taking any bigger fights. Hopefully the girl she fought is okay. If Ronda someday decides to switch over to MMA she'll make her way to the top of her weightclass in very short time. What she as an elite female judoka would bring to the table in terms of athletecism and sheer aggression is something the current top-10 women in MMA can't even dream of.
I am very excited about this.
that throw is so fucking nasty.
seen this chick on the mats at Gokors'... impressive.
Is she the judoka that kept injuring girls with armbars in competition?
Ronda is the perfect prototype for judo in MMA.
1) World-class judoka
2) Who isn't past their prime and riddled with injuries
3) Trains with someone knowledgeable about no-gi judo and MMA (Gokor)
Her mother also knew how to crank an armbar herself. Snapping limbs seems to run in the family.
Kinda figured the match would go exactly like that.
Also has awesome newaza for a Judoka.
