You can win by one point (ippon-gachi), you can win by compounding a half-point with penalties (sogo-gachi), you can win by default if your opponent is a no-show (fusen-gachi), withdrawseek:
n-gachi) or is injured (fusho-gachi), etc etc.
So ippon means one point aka a full point or in the case of ippon seionage as you pointed out one arm. There may well be other homonyms as Japanese is full of them.
i'm no weabo, but the "ippon"used in ippon seoi nage might have a different connotation than the literal "one point".
