Romero vs. Randleman

Neither was Randleman.

Whenever there is a thread about a certain fighter and the only thing you see are gifs of him jumping in the air, you know he wasn't that good at fighting.

Okay then...Kerr was horrible and punched like a girl.

Randleman was a very dangerous man...standing or on the ground.

This is one of the greatest hypothetical matchups ever.

They both have elite takedowns but would not be able to hold each other down. It would be a dog

Two best athletes ever in MMA would finally meet their match. Two most explosive fighters possibly ever. Both can explode and finish you in a heartbeat.

I honestly don't know if the Earth could sustain such a collision...

That's just fucking nuts,

I'd pay serious money to see a multiverse where Randleman left Hammer House, learned to strike and abused TRT.

He'd still be the HW Champ in 2018 (assuming he didn't get so ill after that infection).

i know man, its like, hey kevin, do you even physics?

theres a pic of him slamming the GOAT on his head as well, i dunno whats the matter with you

Some of these guys made their names off as single tournament in one night. Then the rest of their careers were pretty mediocre. I tried explaining that to people the other day but they had a hard time comprehending that. A guy like Mark Coleman started 6-0 in the first 12 months of his career—after that, he was 10-10.

I dunno, let me check

I have a lot of respect for both Romero and Randleman but Romero has mainly fought at 185. Yoel actually was KO'ed by Feijao at LHW and dropped down to 185 after that.

They are both about the same size. Only difference is Randleman came up in a time where the sport was mainly heavyweights and 205.

Some of Kevin's losses are to guys like 320 pound wrestler Erikson, Fedor in a HW tournament, prime Rampage, prime Cro Cop, prime Randy, a very controversial loss to Bas Rutten.

Records don't always tell the whole story. If Kevin was born 10 to 15 years later he would be a Middleweight today and would not have fought all those HWs and LHWs.

When Kerr came on the scene he was a wrecker. Watch him fight Bronco in Pride. K1 kickboxer got DQd for hugging the ropes. Looked like he crapped his pants when Kerr grabbed him. Also Rickson told a story of some guy crying and throwing up in the locker room before he had to fight Kerr in a tournament.

Back on topic. Great dream match. I'd pick The Monster but would just be happy to see it.

When headbutts went away, Kerr was nothing but a lay and pray fighter.

Ive watched Kerrs Pride fights many, many times on dvd.

Randleman all day, he fought much bigger tougher opponents

Ask yourself this, how would have yoel held up against a prime Fedor?

He doesn’t randleplex him that’s for damn sure.

Randleman would have been too much for him.

i think romero got this. They both have elite wrestling but Romero has much better striking. Rampage beat Randleman with a similar type of skillset. I think prime Rampage (the one that fought chuck liddell in Pride) vs prime Romero would be a better match up.

interesting matchup...but if this occurred in Pride, then imagine if Yoel could use PEDs with impunity and was not killing himself to make 205...and if it occurred in the modern UFC era, imagine Randleman under USADA.

I don't see it going well for Randleman, tbh.

Romero via being alive

Can we talk about Jack Dempsey vs Conor now?

Random, I know. But this seems like such an interesting fight on paper. Both guys were incredibly explosive athletes, great wrestlers, and could KO anyone with their explosive power.

Romero
Advantages:
-Taller at 5'11
-Much more accomplish wrestler
-Better striker. Master of flying knees
- More unpredictable

Disadvantages:
-Smaller weight wise

Randleman
Advantages:
- More power (Rampage said Randleman hit him the hardest, I believe)
- Bigger at 220lbs
- Possibly stronger. Outwrestled HWs, while Romero had trouble with a big LHW in Cavalcante
- Crazier athletic feats (Randleplex)

Disadvantages:
- Lack of sub defense
- Lacks striking skill

I have Romero via GnP or even sub. But it'd be interesting to see him against someone who's his athletic equal or even superior.
Would be a wild one, that's for sure.

Randleman is bigger with better wrestling, but Romero is faster amd with more complete striking.

Fuck, get the popcorn.
