She's capable of fighting Cyborg at 5 pounds over her normal weight. Especially when non-"once in a lifetimers" like BJ Penn could move up 15 pounds to beat Matt Hughes.

Damn its amazing that so many of you just don't get it. It's been stated many times in this thread but it's just not sinking in.

There are not enough quality 145 pound females out there to justify starting a division in the UFC. The 135 division is already weak as it is, so adding another division would just make things worse with the female fights.

Cyborg does not a have a division in the UFC unless its bantamweight. UFC is not going to make a special a catchweight fight or allow Ronda to move up to 145 for just one, maybe two fights in Invicta. That would be bad for business. Ronda would have to leave the UFC and vacate her belt. If Cyborg beats Rousey, then where do they go from there? Cyborg still has no division in the UFC and Rousey is a lame duck former WBW champ. Risk outweighs the reward.

Gracie vs Hughes was mentioned... Royce Gracie is a UFC legend hall of famer and deserves respect. Gracie was up there in age so the chances of him beating Hughes were slim. The reward outweighed the risk. Also, lets say Gracie did win, then he could of fought again, if he wanted to, at higher weight class because 185 Middleweight existed.
Cyborg is a known cheater, deserves no respect and she is still in her prime. If Cyborg wins, there are no fights to be made in the UFC, it would just be more fights in different promotions for her because no womens featherweight division exists in the UFC. It's really quite simple, she either cuts the weight or stays where she is.

This whole fiasco reminds me of Nick Diaz calling out Mayhem just to drop to 170lbs. Then when Mayhem wanted to fight him, he said Mayhem needed to make 170lbs first.

Ronda has competed most of her career above 145lbs and now she wants Cris to drop to 135lbs.

This makes sense for Ronda, no need to put that legacy at risk now that you've legitimately been crowned as the best by the UFC marketing machine.

She needed Cyborg then, she doesn't now. She's the punk however not Cris.

it doesnt matter if ronda has fought at a higher weight class before. now she fights at 135 in the biggest mma org in the world. and she is the champion of that division. plus one of the biggest names in mma ever. cyborg is a nobody right now. why should a champion in the ufc be required to move up a weight class just to accept a challenge from a no name fighter that fights in another org at a higher weight class? ronda is on top of the world right now. she doesnt need to fight cyborg to make a name for herself. cyborg is the one who needs this fight to make a name for herself. cyborg is also the one who has nothing to lose and everything to gain from a fight with ronda. ronda has much more to lose and hardly anything to gain because most casual fans dont know who cyborg is.
