Rewatch Rockhold vs Costa was WAY closer than I remembered

I thought it was a great fight. A lot closer than the commentary suggested. Similar to Costa vs Romero.

Bad location for any UFC. What the hell is so special about Utah?
I just moved from there. Lived there for about 8 months. Beautiful place, but the ppl (Mormons) who live there are absolutely retarded. Seriously the dumbest, most unaware ppl. It’s shocking honestly. Such a shame because it could be an amazing place if it wasn’t for those dipshits

I'm re watching it now, but after 2 rounds, Costa 2-0. Stuffed and reversed rockhold very easily. Rockhold a much better grappler than hazbent.

I remember being a clear 30-27 for Costa where a guy was completely gassed and the other one was even more completely gassed.

Terrible performance for both guys. Good showmanship and resilience shown by Rockhold.

Costa was slowly breaking down rock, would have finished with a bit more time
Meh I don't really agree.
It got sloppier and sloppier rounds after rounds.
With 2 more rounds it would have been a Kimbo vs Dada situation where Rockhold gets koed after slipping on his own blood and breaking his neck

nah, Costa was walking him down like 80-90% of the fight

My memory might have failed me but that's how I remember the fight
Who is walking forward has 0 to do with scoring fights unless every other aspect is equal, which it wasn't.

It looked like a fight between two washed up guys. Problem is that Costa is supposed to be in his prime.

i can’t find the news article now, but a sherdogger posted back then that SLC offered the UFC a bunch of economic incentives to bring the last event there.

Luke with serious training (something DC said he doesn't do anymore) is a deadly match for Izzy

It was an utterly embarrassing fight, especially for Costa. Here you have this washed up glass jawed ghost of what used to be Luke Rockhold gassed nearly to death struggling to simply stand and you not only can't put him away but he's actually landing at will on you when he summons up the energy to occasionally throw a sloppy, telegraphed haymaker.

There's actually a good case that Rockhold could have won, his body language and posture were just so bad from the cardio failure since they were at elevation in Utah.

Very competitive, sloppy fight though and not the way I remembered it at all.
Rockhold did way better than his body language showed; not a bad take. He landed some powerful and clean shots, but damn he looked so fatigued immediately after the fight started. He had never looked like that in previous fights, but it seems to happen even to the best, much less someone that had taken a long time off. What suprised me as well was Costa's offensive wrestling.

Looking bad against the former champ isn't something to criticize Costa for

Looking bad against a washed-up 37 year old, with a lot of mileage on him and on the verge of retirement, is.

Getting staggered, along with being unable or unwilling to finish the same guy, who'd gotten KO'd three losses in a row, also is.

I thought it was all kinds of fun mainly for Luke’s antics, sticking in there and landing the shots he did. I mean he looked like he wasn’t going to make it out of round 1.

It can’t be understated how shitty a situation it was that Rockhold had his nose broken in the first minute whilst fighting at elevation and coming off a layoff.
