Rewatch Rockhold vs Costa was WAY closer than I remembered

There's actually a good case that Rockhold could have won, his body language and posture were just so bad from the cardio failure since they were at elevation in Utah.

Very competitive, sloppy fight though and not the way I remembered it at all.

I was under the influence seeing it live and just remembered it being a blow out for some reason.

I was there live and could not believe costa wouldn’t blitz him or even try to finish him while Luke was standing there with his hands on his hips. Then Luke would actually throw snd it looked like costa was in trouble.

definitely not a win that should make you confident in him beating khamzat.

It was actually a wild fight, and as stated above, super sloppy at times.

But Luke in particular was hilarious.

He was gassed like dada 5000, with his hands on his hips, sucking wind at times, then would go ballistic in flurries on Costa when Paulo forced his hand.

He wound up emasculating Costa near the end, dripping blood on his face deliberately while controlling him on the ground.

Shit was crazay.

The elevation in Utah really made this a terrible fight for both Costa and Luke who could only mount offense in spurts. Sloppy. Fun. A bit dramatic. Unfortunately Luke ruined a perfect retirement moment by coming back and fighting in BKFC.

that's what I'm saying, Rockhold did just fine against Costa after such a long lay off. He looked good besides the tiredness. Did just fine. he could easily have continued where he left off. i think he needs a new camp, new team, new training that is going to push him. seems like most of his training was just wearing zoomer clothes and white gloves, doing bag work and pad work. but wtf do i know.

Costa played it safe. He was not headhunting. Luke was hurt and tired, but still exploding everytime when Paulo got close. Rockhold even said that in an interview after the fight, that he was pisst off because Costa was point fighting and not rushing. It was Lukes plan to counter in those situations, but Paulo played it very well, won all 3 rounds and was never in danger in that fight.

Costa ran into every straight right hand from a dead Luke, it was comical.
Luke gassed too hard though to win that fight.
If he hadn't taken a 3 year break and showed up with some cardio, he probably would've edged the fight.

I don't know about him winning, but Rockhold looked solid given his age, a broken nose in the first minute of the fight and gassing hard.

He landed some legit shots, his defense looked way better than usual, his kicks were still clean, caught Paulo with some really nice punches here and there. I like the performance from Luke.

Don't let the body language fool you, Rockhold did well in that fight.
