Rockhold on UFC230 fight with Weidman: Business is good, I dont need to fight unless right contract

for me rockhold will always be the better fighter than weidman even if his chin gives up this time again

True he also thought he was conor when he was getting the shit kicked out of him by by Romero. (conor got the shit kicked out of him by nate and mayweather).
He also thought he was conor when he finished his opponent to win his title (conor also finished his opponent to win his title).
Actually to be fair he probably thought he was conor when he contemplated going up in weight to fight gustafsson ( conor goes up in weight sometimes too. Also gustafsson looks like conor - theres possibly more to this than we thought).

Come to think of it what evidence do we have that Rockhold didn't think he was conor when he won his first mma fight in 2007? Sure conor didnt have a single fight at that point and even when he did he was a no name fighting in ireland..but we can't come to conclusions so quickly, after all, he does think he's conor.

Fifhting is different to sports where you have seasons and games/matches planned out with no player input.

A promoter needs control over the roster to a large degree to be able to match up fights in the best interest for the ormotionp to make money, along with the best fights for the fans.

Too much individual fighter input and you end up in constant cintract wars and lots of missed fights.

The whole "money fight" era is ruining MMA. Champions dont even defend rheir belts in their division anymore.

They are free contractors, UFC can't force them to fight.

Absolutely. The guy is a fucking loser. Why would you ever want to make more money? It’s disgusting. They should take whatever is offered to them.

so? the promoter needs to dole out the cash the athletes want if the promoter wants to promote the fight. it works just fine in boxing, where top guys actually get paid top money.

as for champions not defending, i completely agree. champions refusing to fight the #1 ranked challenger in their division should be stripped of their title. but then you need to separate the promoter from the governing body, which isn't something the UFC wants to give up. still, they could strip people, and have stripped people for refusing to fight. they're just not very consistent at it.

Yeh when you get smoked twice in short succession then it doesn’t help contract negotiations.
 
The difference between Rockhold and The Chris is that The Chris actually kept fighting top guys in his division without complaints. Rockhold, Romero, Mousasi in a row - he didn't need to accept the last 2 fights, but he did. That's a fighter who wants to be the best. MMA fans should appreciate The Chris a lot more than they're currently doing.
 
So this fight and the Romero/Costa fight aren't signed? Cool

Can't argue with that statement. He keeps getting back on the horse no matter how many times he gets brutalized.
 
Never a draw, KO'd 2 of last 3 fights, thinks he has leverage to negotiate a better deal LOL
