No it didn't. It went PG years after Cena was already boy scout Cena. Things like Edge and Lita's live sex celebration was years after Cena.

Triple H fucking a corpse wearing a Kane mask was a few months after Cena debuted and was 3 years after WWE went public.

WWE didn't go back to PG until 2008.

Yeah, and honestly they did need a bit of a course correction. They got a little carried away in the Ruthless Aggression era. It really just comes down to writing. Other than the general storytelling, what really hurt them was when they started demanding everyone read from scripts. Pretty much put shackles on all the talent. If they had those rules back in the day, Steve Austin would just be another guy on "Top 10 Worst Gimmicks" lists as The Ringmaster, alongside The Goon and Bastion Booger, and Rocky Maivia would be working as a bouncer at a titty bar.

I've been wondering about the Stephanie angle now that this came out. whether she left to get out ahead of this, or if some of the less kind things said about her performance recently may have lead to her wanting some payback... the latter is likely a stretch, but the timing of it all is odd no matter.

I don't doubt that this is going to be a problem for the board and it's a big PR issue and all, but if you're a typical WWE shareholder who's your second choice to run the show? If I was holding WWE stock and they announce they are putting him out to pasture I'm selling my shares.

@Sara the reason why I say that is it seems like Dana broom has made the most of her position and at least the perception is that she has worked very hard and obviously never walked out. I get what ur saying about Dana brooms level, and it’s a legit response, but please don’t denigrate brooms. At least she isn’t delusional about her position

Some consider the 'PG era' to start in 2008 when the TV rating went from TV-14 to PG.

While those moments did happen after when I consider the PG era started, they were few, far between, and also cheap shock value.

When Steve Austin was told to tone the vulgarity and middle fingers down, and other reasons in 2001/2002, that's when the PG-13 era ended and PG era began for many fans. It was a slow process for it to be actually made official with the ratings change in 2008.
