RIP to my beloved neck tats

Cody could get cut. He also could not get cut. I guess it all depends on how much money he makes and how much he brings in. I don't think he'll get cut.

He also like the alpha male/former alpha male guys. It's amazing how good he looked in that Cruz fight with his head movement and now it's non existent.

It's easy to look good against someone with pillow fists plus he was faster than Cruz. Cody should fight a couple grapplers or volume punchers next.

Cody's biggest problem was his fight IQ, not skills. He has good boxing, speed, but makes terrible decisions, and doesn't really seem to improve at all, which also gets back to his IQ/team.

Weidman was in the same boat, same record, except all 5 of his losses were by T/KO, yet Dana still gave him fights with top 10-15 guys. I think if they gave Cody a couple of more wrestling/grappling oriented fighters instead of strikers, he can rack up a couple of wins before getting sacrificed to O'Malley or Figgy.
Weidman was a champ that beat Anderson and was coached by Serra who is Dana's friend. Garbrandt was never champ and is having to become a lot more timid in his fights because of his glass chin

Its so bad I actually feel bad for this guy...

He didn't "go wrong", he was never a worldbeater, everyone just bought into the hype. He jumped from #10 to #6 to a title shot without proving himself against the real contenders. Look at his actual record, He had one great performance against Cruz, his only other wins in the last 5 years were against Almeida (washed up and chinny), Mizugaki (washed up) and Assuncao (washed up), he has not beaten anyone in the top 15 currently except Cruz.

He had a good showing against Cruz because of how their styles matched up and the fact that TAM studied him for years trying to beat him. Having one good fight doesn't make you elite. Cody's run was the equvalent of Sean O'malley getting a title shot after beating a few more cans, beating the champ and then acting like he's the best when he has only beaten 1 legit guy. You have to clean out a division to be the best, not duck a division.
<PlusJuan>

Came to say something similar, although I can see him doing good against suga surprisingly.

Neck tats might be the actual dumbest fighter ive ever seen, and I dont mean in like a fight IQ way, I mean like he's a dumb son of a bitch....like if he came out as a flat earther, my response would makes sense.....him and mike perry should be put into a think tank and given unlimited money just to see what they come up with, I bet those 2 idiots find the cure for cancer by trying to weaponize AIDS

Dude, when did you start following the sport? Garbrandt was the BW champ in 2017 after beating BW GOAT Cruz, the only difference is Weidman managed to squeeze in a couple of title defenses after Anderson before going on a losing streak. Their MMA careers are very similar.

Was he easily hittable or frequently knocked down prior to TJ cracking his chin? I feel kinda bad for him if that cheater started his downturn like he did with Barao, but he seemed to take decent time off between each of his KO losses, so I wonder if this was inevitable or if he used to be more durable/defensive.

Idk, he's 1-5 in his last 6 regardless of competition level and 4 of those 5 were by T/KO. Dana has nothing against cutting guys that are only trending downward
I don’t know if Cody Necktats will get cut now, but that’s generally true. One can argue that it’s a stupid policy, but it seems like their take is why pay more for gatekeepers and journeymen?

I actually think it’s a bad approach. Hulk Hogan wouldn’t have gotten the same heat if André the Giant hadn’t put him over in the Pontiac Silverdome in front of 93,173 screaming fans, brother.

Needs to change camps or branch out at least. He's the best boxer there and he's been getting outboxed in his recent fights. When your game is primarily based on boxing, you need to keep that sharp. He needs training/coaching with more high level mma boxers and pro boxers.
He’s getting outboxed because his chin is so bad, he has to fight around the game plan of not eating shots so it kills his offence.

Perfect alignment for fight with the emo clown O'Malley. Make it happen Dana.

Are you sure about that?
Forgot that was a title fight tbh

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

He'll hang around to be a guy that up and comers pad their records with.
