News RIP Tanner Marlow

Tanner Marlow is from my town. we ran with some of the same crowd. I was just talking to him after his big win about his future and how close he was to making it to the big show. I was excited for him. He grew up with a close friend. He was shot and killed in a double homicide over a woman early Christmas Eve. He killed dude too. That’s all I know. His older brother passed away just a couple years ago. Condolences to the Marlow family. RIP Tanner Marlow

I don’t like people framing him as being killed over a woman. From what I’ve gathered, it sounds like he died in defense of the home and the people inside.
I didn’t know him in recent years but I trained with him before joining the Army 10 years ago. I traveled with the team to some fights. His brothers death was definitely hard on him and He had his flaws like everyone but I’ve never heard anything bad about him. I remember him as a confident dude that got along with everyone he spoke to at the gym. This hasn’t been brought up but he was also an Army veteran.

I just came from Tanner's viewing. Tomorrow I'll be a pall bearer at his funeral. I have known/trained him since he was 14. He was a wonderful young man and one tough sob. I've got a dozen guys at my gym who has said roughly the same thing, "he kicked my arse, but I really loved him."

Tanner was that kind of a guy. What a pleasure to work with him. Even more impressive was his relationship with his wonderful parents. I have been running my gym for 38 years and I've never seen parents so loving and supportive. Their pain is palpable and their loss enormous. MMA has lost one of the truly good guys. If you didn't know Tanner, that's your loss. He was an excellent human being!
