RIP Nick Bockwinkel

Watching Ray Stevens in the early 90s during my tape trading days opened me up to Nick Bockwinkel as a wrestler and man was he the epitome of a A Class heel wrestler and he could get it done in the ring, especially for his time period. He wrestled the who's who of the wrestling world such as Harley Race, Ricky Steamboat, Ric Flair, Verne Gagne, Hulk Hogan, Jumbo Tsuruta, Mad Dog Vachon, Jerry Lawler, Dino Bravo, Paul Orndorff, Pedro Morales, Wahoo McDaniel among many many others.

On the mic, he was about as good as any and it was a bittersweet day (two days ago) to learn he passed but as I said, bittersweet; unlike many wrestlers, he lived a long and great life passing at 80 years old. Able to travel the world, dine in places most can only imagine, and made a decent living at it. RIP

Will forever be known as a legendary goober who refused to put Hogan over.

RIP

he was big a bit before i really got into wrestling, but i recall seeing some of his matches when i was a bit older and was really impressed.

he didnt stay in AWA because he wasnt talented enough to go into bigger shows once territories merged (ish), i think he was loyal to the twin cities and he made a comfortable living.

he was every bit the wrestler the "stars" were and in many cases a much better performer.
