News RIP Jordan Breen

We should recreate the all violence team with a poll or something. Making Breen's all violence team was the most prestigious award in the sport imo.

Awww shit, back when I used to be on here all the time he was around. RIP man, wtf happened?

I am actually pretty gutted about this.

This mans knowledge about the sport was otherworldly and his ability to formulate and express himself in regards to the sport was next level as well.

Back to a time where MMA reporting was actually worth listening to.

Beatdown after the bell was instrumental in shaping my personal fandom.

I am very sorry to hear that his life spiraled at the end.

SRN helped me though some shit times. Breen was awesome, even if I didnt always agree he was one of the few that had a passion for the sport and didnt see it as an easy payday for a subpar sport. Josh Gross, Jordan Breen, Jeff Sherdog, TJ DeSantis, Greg Savage all gave a fuck. I think TJ stayed around for a while but I stopped listening around 2010/2011.

Damn. He knew his stuff that’s for sure. He was a really young man then too. Think he had some good conversations with Eddie Goldman. RIP.

My dude… that join date. 2002. That makes you certified OG status. Straight G. Been here since the internet had dial-up and Sherdog was still wild. And hell yeah, I’d kill to hear some of those old shows again. My go-to was The Savage Dog Show—Jeff and Greg.

Indeed.

I preferred Beatdown myself with TJ, Jacki and Lutfi. The Savage Dog Show deviated from MMA a bit more than I liked but man they had stories.

Yeah, for sure, man—I feel that. TJ, Jack, Lutfi… damn. Now that you mention it, I have no clue what happened to Lutfi Sariahmed. Just kinda disappeared. I know TJ’s still out there grinding, doing the podcast circuit. Jack’s got The Lapsed Fan. But Lutfi? Ghosted. Then again, it’s not like I’ve been out there digging.

Still, I miss those SRN days—when the whole thing felt alive. No offense to whoever’s steering the ship now, but outside the forums? It all kinda flatlined for me after they pushed out Jeff.

For sure, man. I ran through hours of that stuff—late nights, long stretches, just me and the old crew in my ears. Those guys actually gave a damn about the sport. And look, I’m not saying the people running things now don’t care—but back then? Sherdog had a spine.

The UFC yanked their credentials, tried to ice them out—and Sherdog didn’t flinch. They kept calling it like they saw it. No bootlicking, no company line, just brutal honesty. And the best part? They never bought into the myth that the UFC was MMA. Hell no. They reminded everyone there was a whole world of talent the UFC didn’t own—and didn’t even want.

I can't remember whether it was him or Jack, but I believe it was Lutfi... He was brought back for one of those reunion type shows. I think he said he was a high school teacher now.

It's just kinda the way it's gone. There's too many options now. I was saying the last few years in the Grappling forum that usually, the this time of year, people would be posting about IBJJF worlds. The last few years, we'd be lucky to get a thread. People have shifted off to reddit and the like

The guerrilla media arc was great. The time TJ (I believe it was) left a UFC, called into BATB and nearly got hit by a car live on air lol

Nah, most people left the sport and its filled with casual followers. Even I don't follow it as closely as I did. More responsibilities in life and MMA doesn't pay me. I skipped Blackfield vs Barber and skipped out on the main event last night because this shit doesn't interest me like it did. Been following for over 20 years and its so over saturated.

If you're a member of the old media you had to find new ways to generate money and most people don't care to do that. It's a fun hobby they enjoyed, not a niche product they were focused on monetizing.

Oh we'vee definitely had a lot of fallen brothers. The OGs grew up and can't spend all our time on forums. Rather, it's just better to spend what free time we have now actually watching fights.

I spend most of my time here on the NHL thread and sometimes in the grappling forum. I stay away a lot from the mma forum and hardly comment (though some of it is because i've got a small amount of skin in the game)

Damn, had no idea what happened to him. Used to listen to the radio all the time back in the day. RIP

I remember his radio show with TJ Desantis years on Sherdog, definitely listened to that a fair bit feels like a lifetime ago now.

Rest in peace to the man, war Jordan Breen.
