News RIP Elias Theodorou

Brutal finish. Seemed to've lived a good like. Sad and tragic -a Salute

Damn. Sorry to hear man. How old are you?

I'm 34 and have just been diagnosed with Barret's esophagus, I'm awaiting surgery. I also have a hernia. I do beat my body though, I drink and take a lot of cocaine most days.

Someone like Elias who's my age should not be dying, he's fit and healthy. The world doesn't make any sense.
I turned 44 yesterday (Sept 11th)

I wish you the best on your operation, I have a feeling you'll be just fine afterwards. Slow down on the coke though if you havnt, especially nowadays where people's hearts are failing them left and right. They don't really show it on the news but many athletes are dying mid game on field. The Bible mentions that in end times men's hearts would fail them...

Wow RIP Elias thank you for the wars. What a classy way to go to be honest.

If you know you're going out, it would be utterly draining having everyone treating you like a fabergé egg and reminding you of it. He was an extremely happy go lucky person (he got into some funny ig chirp battles) and probably just wanted his last days being positive.

Nothing but respect for him living his days on his terms

Definitely, he did it his way and that is the most badass thing about this fighter.

R.I.P

How is that possible that he had liver cancer stage 4? I thought MMA fighters have regular checkups with doctors.

Yeah, once you have the eventual death diagnosis... I lost my mom to agressive breast cancer early this year - she got the diagnosis back in november, no hope, but she only told the immediate family and pulled off the most awesome christmas for the extended family, was happy that one more time and only allowed herself to let go after everything was done - ended up in hospital few days later and luckily passed away with no major suffering quickly afterwards. Really taught me the value of going out with a happy note, instead of being barraged by the pity of others. For a person in the limelight (even as niche as Theodorou is as a mid-card MMA/excellent ring card guy was) the empty pity and sympathy from the online world probably would feel even more hollow if that is the way one wishes to go...

Very sad. He was a hell of a fighter and I always liked seeing him fight. RIP.

I think I was one of the few Elias fans on here. Sure his fights weren't just bleed wars but I always found his style interesting and always wondered how his opponents would approach trying to beat him. Such a difficult style to figure out and very effective.

Only ever lost to guys who lived in the UFC rankings for years, never finished and I don't really remember him ever being badly hurt either.

Seemed like a really genuine nice dude outside the cage too.

RIP Elias and thanks for everything.

Fought twice in 2021, last fight in December 2021... just 9 months. I'm guessing it was something aggressive and found late.

What a tough break, RIP

I actually have it in my notes for his last fight that he seemed uncharacteristically tired. At the time I put it down to fighting at elevation and maybe not having as intense a training camp as he would have done for a UFC fight, but it makes me wonder.

Thanks brother, I appreciate it man. I hope you get yourself better as well and good luck with your surgery too.
