Carl Weathers would have had more opportunities in the 1990's had the styles not changed away from muscle-bound action stars. This is a shame, as he was one of the few athletes who had the rare thespian talent of being quite serious, yet a little funny, all at once.

Weathers holds a place of that effervescent mid 70's to mid 80's era that most people seem to like. He is literally the champion.

I still find myself thinking about Carl's passing every now and then. I guess he always seemed like a bigger than life figure and was hugely influential as a person (and as Apollo!) to me growing up. This one really hit hard.

I just saw Rocky on TV for the hundreth time and had to dig up this thread to write down some thoughts on the legend.
