Riot Games' Valorant

Does anyone know who voices Phoenix? He's the one with the British accent who says, "Joke's over, you're dead!" He sounds so familiar, but I can't place it. He has an English RP accent like Jude Law or Johnny Lee Miller, he sounds quite a bit like the former, but it's not Jude. The actor may be affecting that accent, too, they often do, so I'm not even sure he's English.

Everyone will want a piece of the riot esport marketing , even if the game is bad streamers will try hard to make this hyped for a while.

Reminder: Riot Games literally changed up the rules of their online video game to frustrate its users, then sold those same users' personal data to a psychological study.

Had a corworker who got into the beta and played it. He said he really liked it.

Nice, I didn't even think to look up its IMDb page. Don't recognize the dude. I thought for sure it was a young rising star from the movies or TV who had recent exposure in some major projects, but I guess not.

its a good game, some issues with character balancing and utility but so far its good

Some abilities don't really work as well as intended, only real issue, gun play is easier than CS but proper utility makes easy gun play much harder due to decision making, its actually a good balance

Their undefeatable anti-cheat client and fog of war anti-wallhack have already been defeated. Riot are going to have a tough time in the FPS genre. Especially in a game that is tailored this heavily towards the Asia market.

People were claiming it was cracked on the first day. I think I remember reading the first thing within like 7 hours of beta starting.

Is it good. I am a Overwatch player. Looking to switch to this? Is the Beta open to everyone?

You have to link a Riot account to a Twitch account and watch streamers that have drops enabled and then you get a chance at a drop. It's very different than Overwatch. This has CS style game play with Paladins graphics, a few tactical devices from Rainbow Six Siege, and ultimates from Overwatch. It is pretty fun though.

Also keep in mind that you can just open a stream, put it 160p and almost mute it while you have a different tab open and you'll still be eligible to get the drop.

I had 20 streams open with drop enabled during 10 hours or so but got no keys yet.

Number of streams open doesn't effect your chances. They've said its weighted so that people who've been 'watching' longer have a higher chance of getting a drop though.

Ok thank you. I'll keep watching the same streamer during the beta then.

I didnt even think IMDB pages existed for video games...lol
It's a tremendous resource. I've said in the past I think it offers the most useful, generally accurate ratings for the most popular AAA games from gamers themselves. It's less trafficked and less useful than the user vote on Metacritic for smaller games, but also less trolled by toxic gamers and less tainted by corporate influence-farming, which is why I personally find IMDb more reliable for larger games. Meanwhile, OpenCritic is by far the most useful review aggregator for professional game reviewers; far superior to Metacritic.

But, frankly, they all feel obsolete these days. With Twitch and YouTube offering entire silent gameplay walkthroughs, in addition to an abundance or promotional material or PvP vids, I think video game reviews have become largely obsolete. If you can't tell from the 15 minutes of gameplay whether or not a game is for you I don't see how reading a million words relaying the opinions of a million people who aren't you is gonna get you there.

Checked out a few streams, just not getting it. It looks like crap, has so few exciting moments. It feels like a CS: Source mod. I'm a pretty long-time Overwatch player and the idea of a CS-OW hybrid is kind of cool, but I'm not buying any of this execution.

I'd at least try it, I just wanted to see how it was and it's pretty fun with the potential to be great. Do I think it's better than CS? Nah, different. But it's definitely fun in it's own right. Plus a bunch of shitty people are playing so if you're not good at FPS its got a good base to play with an level up.

Subjective opinion on looks, I don't think it looks great but everything is defined and there isnt area for confusion when you see things. It's definitely great in that aspect. I feels nothing like source, more like 1.6 movement with Quake 3 bhops and toned down gunplay from GO. 128 tick servers feel great. Only have had about 4 shots in 25+ games that felt off.

it plays nothing like Overwatch, and has more depth on executes/post plants. OW was a forced competitive game when it was like the Marvel version of TF2. That's an entirely different issue though.

Looks like boring trash.

See me on the LAN nerd

Looks like the mobile version of the game was left in the Beta:
