Ring vs octagon.....which one is better?

they should fight in one of these

plus the ring you cant really hold your opponent against the ropes like you can use the cage.

I agree the ring is more ascetic, presses the fighters into a fight more, but it creates problems too.

The cage is an acceptable middle road and a smaller cage pushes the action like a ring can but without issues that arise like falling out

Neither are perfect but the cage is probably better over all

I perfer a ring, something about it makes it more. More what? I don't know?

its pure insanity that pride fans still think a ring is better after countless fighters getting tied up in the ropes and only pushed back in by a small army of japanese men
They both have their disadvantages though, grabbing on the fence, and using it to your advantage etc.

Has anyone tried making a boxing ring with meshing?

grabbing the fence is a foul, its the refs' problem that they dont enforce it and deduct points
But that's the problem, grabbing on the fence can happen multiple times, constantly, just like a knee Jerk reaction, but the ref would rather slap the hand and tell them stop doing it, rather than pause the fight, and that's if the ref is even looking properly. Its a problem. All it takes is one grab for a split second to stop a take down. And then let go. The ref nobody can do shot about it. And it happens constantly.

the ring stops a lot of the stalling and shit that happens from wrestling. pride didnt have the amount of guys with college wrestling pedigrees that the ufc does but the ropes doesnt really let u hold guys against it and use it as a tool to control them. couture wouldnt have won shit in PRIDE

I'd love to see Pettis bouncing of a rope to kick someone.

So basically cage=mma

Right, its better design for the original intention of the sport which was an open style combat sport with limited rules trying to simulate pure fighting. In that sense the cage makes sense....its like locking 2 animals in and watching them fight it out. With that said ring has given us a shit load of great fights and it's king for live viewing. The cage really blows live for the most part.

ring 100%. a cage is so fucking corny and gimmicky, hard to take mma seriously as a sport.

+1 for smaller cage. I started watching UFC before I saw Pride and guys falling out of the ropes and constantly having to be reset always irked me.

It's hard to take MMA seriously as a sport when you have little Japanese men at ringside molesting the fighters.

The one that has nothing to do with pro genocide satanic cults, oh wait.....

Ring. It would eliminate the wall and stall thats quite common in the UFC.
