note: this is based on a formula using Ring Magazine's historical top ten divisional rankings, it is not a subjective list (IE: a win Knockout CP Freshmart over Vic Saludar is given the same point score as Terence Crawford beating Vergil Ortiz Jr, as both Saludar and Ortiz Jr are fifth ranked in their respective divisions).

this leaves a lot of holes in the data itself, but figured I'd leave an explanation of hte methodology

Finito not there and Marciano over 59 while Floyd’s padded bullshit champ record (and a victory over Conor mcgregors fantastic 0-0 boxing record at the time) which got him to 50-0.

Whatever but this list is crazy, I will say this, good on them for putting Hopkins ahead of Roy Jones

Interesting to say the least

Benitez all the way at the bottom, no Ricardo Lopez???

These lists always cause arguments. I remember the SI greatest sports figures of the last 50 years and Wilt Chamberlain wasn't on it, perhaps the greatest all around athlete ever and not a mention. Makes you wonder who the hell comes up with this shit. Bias affects anything, even the "objective".

ring magazine hasn't been relevant for well over 20 years now.

hasn't been relevant to me since Delahoya bought it, was obvious that there wasn't going to be any real thought going on after that.

You should edit the OP to indicate right at the very top that this is an algorithm based list, that will save a lot of confusion and arguing.

How did Ricardo el finito López not make it?
IIRC the junior divisions (especially the lower weights like 108 and 105) basically didn’t have rankings for a large part of Finitos reign, and to the degree that fighters in those divisions were ranked, they were merged into the 112 lbs rankings. That’s probably why you don’t see guys like Carbajal or Chang or Yuh or Galaxy or Chiquita or Zapata ranked. It’s a massive blind spot with the data
