News Rickey Henderson Dead at 65

I also have some baseball cards laying around nearly all of them of Frank Thomas.

Got a Sammy Sosa rookie card, autographed Rick Dempsey, and a Ken Griffey/Barry Bonds duos card

Wish I would have kept them all. I collected a lot of them.
I've been trying to collect autographed '92 Upper Deck cards of the Oakland A's and got Eckersley, Canseco (never would have guessed I'd be able to get), Bordick, Honeycutt, Baines, and Larussa on '89 Topps. Got Steinbach on '90 Score.

meh my buddy stopped him once for doing 65 in a 25.
said he was a dick.

RIP, dick

That's awesome man. Same here I had so many. bout ten years ago I went thru all my old cards at my parents house, so many boxes. Pulled out all the "good ones". Lots of Jeter rookies. I have 3 Griffey 89 upper decks. When my uncle passes I'll get all his, he's got a Nolan Ryan rookie, tons of stuff from that era. Still have my old binder of all the ones I used to take to friends houses to do trades.
Via Nolan Ryan Foundation website, I paid $75 each for him to sign 3 cards of mine where I couldn't find my own, so had to buy on eBay. I found out about this on Reddit.

I'm trying to collect autographed '93 Score cards of the bigger Rangers players and have Canseco, Palmeiro, Ryan, Franco.

I loved Rickey Henderson as a kid. When he broke the all-time stolen base record it was a day game and no internet back then. The second I got home from school turned on sports center to see the highlight.
Same here, except we didn’t have a tv so I had to wait for the newspaper the next day.

Ricky don't like it when Ricky can't find Ricky's limo. Dude was awesome.

It's so weird b/c I saw him at an A's game like 3 months ago and Ricky looking good.

His stolen base record is one that might stand for all time. Maybe one day stolen bases will be a thing a player goes for again. but it could stand for all time. Legendary player, and we are lucky we got to see this all time great, regardless of era, play.

While there are some records out there more unbreakable, nobody is touching that record.

grew up an a's fan as a kid living in the east bay. saw him play lots of times. he was such a great player. could do it all. hit for average, for power, stole bases of course, was a decent outfielder, and was a fan favorite. dying at 65 tells me maybe drugs were somehow involved. i think he partook in the stuff the bash brothers were indulging in at the time too.

His legacy lives on through me referring to myself in the 3rd person.

Which ones do you consider more unbreakable? Not disagreeing just curious. Pete Rose? Cy young?

Kind of mind boggling how many bases he stole

I was at a ball game and his career was almost over , the fans were on him all game about everything you could think of with no reaction, finally around the 8th inning they started heckling him about how little he did for the blue jays and how he didn’t deserve the World Series ring he won here ,THAT pissed him off and he started making obscene gestures with his hands

I love all these players and can still see each of them playing in my minds eye. Bordick has that weird stance and was fun to watch in the field. Baines looked so relaxed at the plate.canseco, fuck he was amazing he was so wound up at the plate and just swung out his shoes every time. Eck. a fav from around the Rickey time was Dave Stewart, that hat pulled down low, he was the man.

Most of the pitching ones. 511 career wins, 60 wins in a season, 749 career complete games, 75 complete games in a season, 110 career shutouts, 16 shutouts in a season, 5714 career Ks, 680 innings pitched in a season, 26 innings pitched in a single game.

It's crazy how the game is played changes over the generations. It's still 90 feet , still trying to hit a round ball with a round bat. But man
