Reyes will beat the snot out of Jones for two rounds

Doubt it. I think Santos' craziness and his leg kicks gave him something over eveyone else and it was basically a mental edge. He didn't give a fuck. But also Jones' didn't even bother to take him down.

I think Jones is super bored of his division but wants the legacy. He's fighting ppl at their own game on purpose to fuck with them and everyone in the division. You can't out strike the guy, you can't out wrestle him. Vitor came close to submitting him and let go of the sub, we'll never see someone get that close again.

Jones wins via TKO. Goes on a coke binge and bangs Holly again.

I’m waiting for a fight where jones comes out and wrestle fucks someone just to show he can still do it.

Yeah, we're overdue for one of those fights where the conventional wisdom of the fanbase just blows up in our faces.

Maybe I'm missing something, but what makes this different from other Jones fights?
Wishful thinking. People don't like Jones so they pick his opponents hoping they are the guy to take him out.

Reyes is a big versatile striker with big KO power. People are expecting this to be a redux of the first Gustafsson fight.

I miss hellbow Jones.

I wonder where his wrestling is at these days.

I think there's a number of paths to victory with Jones on the feet. His striking isn't "that good"... he's found a way to capitalize on his physical advantages and rack up points while keeping opponents at range. He mixes that with his clinch/sweeps and elbows when opponents close the distance. He's got this game dialed to an insane level. But he's become a bit of a specialist, he's been having such good success with this for so long I'm not convinced he's got a plan B on the feet. I really think someone with great boxing could outvolume Jones on the feet.

The big question is if he can go to his wrestling these days if he starts losing on the feet (the answer is probably yes)
His striking is not as much about beating the shit out of you as it is about taxing you. He capitalized on adrenaline that the other fighter has knowing a championship fight is new to them. Knowing it’s the biggest fight of your life. Every action he makes he’s trying to make you breathe harder, do more work, spend energy. He meticulously picks you apart piece by piece and peels back the layers until he’s left with someone who’s unfocused, tired, injured, and overwhelmed and then he moves in for the kill. It’s so dominant and so effective.

Santos was a rare fighter because I think jones genuinely knows how strong santos is. trying to grapple a guy THAT big isn’t good for your health. And with thiagos leg injury, I think jones believed he had the tools to put Thiago away, but we learned that 205 santos is incredibly determined and hard to put away. I think almost anyone else jones takes them to the mat and G&P’s them

I think Reyes is a good fighter, but has a bit of a "thin" resume (OSP, Volkan are good wins..Wideman, Cannonier..maybe too), but I suppose the Division itself isn't overly stacked.
I'm thinking Picto-Grams Jones is going to overwhelm him with his diverse striking, wrestling and cardio...mind you I would love to see Reyes do what Holly did to Rhonda.

I expect a good effort on Reyes' part, especially with the style Jones has been implementing recently, and it would be fun to have a new champ and some drama at LHW, but... I give Dom 1% shot of winning.

Nothing. Just a bunch of turds wishing on a shooting star.

The GOAT via complete and thorough domination, as usual.

Hard to beleive the guy who got gifted a dodgy decision against Oezdemir (who isn't bad, but still no Jones) will be the one to slay Jon Jones.

I don't know man, MMA is pretty crazyjust look at Holly, who would have tought that getting a split decision over Raquel Pennington would be the one to destroy Ronda

If he can do it in later rounds and sneak at aleast one another round in, we are looking at a new champ(if judges aren't biased).

Reyes is a little early to title contention. i just hope he's ready for this and performs. i would like to see them bring out the best fight in one another. Jones knows Reyes can knock him out if he fucks up. And Reyes knows Jones wants him on his back getting banged up. Reyes is strong off his back pedal, so jones will have to be cautious in applying pressure. I like the fight. i'm glad it's happening. but i do think Jones's resolve for a legacy title campaign at lightnheavyweight is less lucrative and historically exciting than him taking on the HWs.

Lol everybody on here just trying to be like "I told you so!" If Reyes gets the win.

I'm talking specifically about the Sherdog forums where you see this narrative happening every time Jones fights :)

Yeah, not trying to pick a fight here, but I don't see that happening every time Jones fights. I think Jones, love him or hate him, is the dominant champ most expected to win any given fight, at least in these parts. I may have missed it, but I did not see a lot of folks thinking Reyes or Smith were going to unseat Jones.

When it comes to Gus or Cormier, then I concede that you have a good point.
