How can there be no such thing as a paper champ but Hill is a real paper champ? I think it's hard to call any undisputed champ a paper champ. To me a paper champ is most interim champs

It's not fair to compare cormier to jones in this situation. Cormier not only was never the best LHW in the world but he also cheated on the scale to get the title fight with rumble. those oppotunities lead to the HW title.

If Jones defeats Gane, he'll be just as much of a paper champion, and yet the narrative is getting spun in a much more positive light if Jones happens to accomplish the feat of defeating the non-lineal champion; at least when Cormier became LHW champion, it was against Rumble who hadn't already lost to the lineal champion (unlike Gane).

I only disagrees with Leon and Pereira, GSP would've normally retired or be too old for them anyway. It makes sense in the perception that the guy who vacated the title could be fighting in his prime right now
