Ngannou left for greener pastures. The UFC needs a new HW champ so this is the fight they made. There is no guarantee Jones will win. He has had a 3 year lay off, people saying he looks soft, but we just don't know.

Gane is a tough HW. Yeah we all wanted to see Jones vs. Ngannou, it just didn't get done so there is that.

I am excited to see this fight and will be happy to see Jones back, and at HW.

DC was in the same situation as Hill now. It was obvious that he would not stay the champ once the real champ returns. I would not call it them paper champs either but lucky champions.

A paper champion was Nico Montano. She became the champ simply because the division needed one, and UFC does not do tournaments. AND she avoided defending the belt any way possible.

I am honestly not sure what greener pastures he left for? If he’s able to box a heavy hitter with some name power, he’s going to get knocked the fuck out in a couple of rounds. And that’s it. I agree. "Greener pastures" to me means he left because he may get a huge payday from fighting a Fury, Wilder or Joshua. He'd make a pile. But I totally agree, he get's KO'd and he's done.

Arguments over whether this belt is made of paper or not aside, UFC's complete radio silence on Ngannou (in promoting this current fight) is hysterical. I get that they don't want to show Ngannou beating Gane, but simply acknowledging that the belt is vacant because he left would be sufficient.

Instead, just like with everything else, from Crypto bonuses disappearing to domestic violence, they just sweep it under the rug and hope no one notices. This shows not just a callous disregard for truth and responsibility, but also contempt for the fans/audience.
