Remember when Fitch stole a win from BJ Penn!?

With who being who ?
With Mousasi being BJ Penn.
Mousasi had a foul in round 1, but won pretty much every round.
One judge scored the first for Jardine, resulting in a 10-8 round, no fucking idea how.
One judge scored the first 9-9, and the second for Jardine, no fucking idea how.
Third judge nailed it with 9-9, 10-9, 10-9 (29-28 Mousasi).

Fight was firmly controlled by Gegard, outside of the foul, and should have been a win, but some felt he didn't do enough to recover from the foul in round one.
Either way, many who watched the fight saw that BJ and Mousasi both deserved to win based on performance.

I don't understand the mindset of people who can watch a dude get completely dominated in the final round and then think they won the fight.

MMA is a sport that is judged on all rounds not just the last. In most cases ... Winning two rounds > then winning one.

If it was a street fight and you won the first 10 minutes but then got destroyed for the last 5 minutes before the fight is stopped then you lost as there is no time limit in a street fight and no rounds.

I found it an interesting fight.

BJ can't expect to win on his name alone. It's like being mad at Frankie Edgar for being the only one who did anything in their fights. Blame BJ.

The dumbshit BJ fans are still out there, apparently. Someone needs to rewatch that third round. It was a lot like DiCaprio vs. the grizzly bear.

Penn was outlanded 149-2 in strikes and completely dominated in the grappling aspect for the entire round. The only reason you would score that a 10-9 is because you have a hard-on for Penn or hate Fitch.
^This,

Has anyone posted the gif of Penn and his corner celebrating the draw like it was the biggest GIFT they had ever received. Lterally Penn's corner started dancing becuase they all RIGHTLY knew he had lost and was just gifted a draw. Whereas FItch and his corner were in disbelief.

That is all you need to know @The Natural Born Runner is that BJ and his corner knew they had lost and were out of their mind thrilled to get a gift draw.

BJ’s gas tank had never been elite
thats not true. Watch Bj's early LW fights when he first transitioned to MMA from BJJ. He could easily get into a 3 and even 5 round grappling war with no cardio issues. You could not be a great in BJJ without cardio for miles.

It was really only after his Hughes win we saw his work ethic and cardio really start to decline and that is because he fell in love with fighting above LW where he did not have to train that hard (as he did not have to lose weight to make weight) and the glory that came with beating bigger guys. The first Hughes win was his biggest accomplishment but also his biggest curse because it changed how he trained forever.

I remember thinking Penn should've retired after this fight he even admitted he thought he lost this fight in the post fight interview

Penn was a victim of his own bravery throughout his career, taking on all comers and taking L’s to ridiculously large opponents like Machida and even at 170, guys like MacDonald and St. Pierre. People forget how many considerably larger fighters Penn competed against and also how much success he had.

That's such a garbage excuse. Why should we praise someone for taking a fight if they lost the fight? I could lose to Machida, MacDonald, and GSP too - because I don't belong in there with them. Doesn't matter how "brave" I am for doing it.

No, but I remember the fight going to a draw. LMAO

Honestly, did anyone else get extremely satisfied when Maia backpack'd him for 3 rounds?

He had good cardio, but not elite cardio (Dillashaw, Diaz, Sea level Cain etc)
