because his work ethic was never elite
He coasted on natural talent
because his work ethic was never elite
With Mousasi being BJ Penn. With who being who ?
I don't understand the mindset of people who can watch a dude get completely dominated in the final round and then think they won the fight.
He coasted on natural talent
^This,Penn was outlanded 149-2 in strikes and completely dominated in the grappling aspect for the entire round. The only reason you would score that a 10-9 is because you have a hard-on for Penn or hate Fitch.
thats not true. Watch Bj's early LW fights when he first transitioned to MMA from BJJ. He could easily get into a 3 and even 5 round grappling war with no cardio issues. You could not be a great in BJJ without cardio for miles.BJ’s gas tank had never been elite
Penn was a victim of his own bravery throughout his career, taking on all comers and taking L’s to ridiculously large opponents like Machida and even at 170, guys like MacDonald and St. Pierre. People forget how many considerably larger fighters Penn competed against and also how much success he had.
He had good cardio, but not elite cardio (Dillashaw, Diaz, Sea level Cain etc)thats not true. Watch Bj's early LW fights when he first transitioned to MMA from BJJ. It was really only after his Hughes win we saw his work ethic and cardio really start to decline and that is because he fell in love with fighting above LW where he did not have to train that hard (as he did not have to lose weight to make weight) and the glory that came with beating bigger guys. The first Hughes win was his biggest accomplishment but also his biggest curse because it changed how he trained forever.
Plus youth was on his sideto his credit, it got him pretty far
