Remember when Aoki flipped that guy a bird after breaking his arm and Sherdog defended him?

You guys remember when Shinya Aoki broke that one guy's arm and then stood over his body and flipped him a bird...in front of his family?

All the hardcores on Sherdog tried to defend his actions by saying he was mad at the guy for making him break his arm when he could have just tapped out instead.

I don't know why but I just randomly remembered this. It didn't dawn on me at the time but that's like the most bullshit excuse for someone being a dick I've ever heard.

Alex flipped off Izy after the KO and he needed oxygen tanks...!

He didn't have a problem breaking his arm

He said he flipped the bird just because of excitement

iirc back then people were speculating Aoki was salty because in Hirota's fight before this he knocked out one of Aoki's closest teammates, Satoru Kitaoka (Taking the Sengoku LW belt off him in the process)

Brutal

no, i remember everyone rightfully shitting on Aoki for it, but still being impressed with the fight overall. He still gets shit for that. It's just comical bc of how over the top it was

I can't remember if it was the same fight or not but Aoki went up to one of the ring card girls & did the DX suck it crotch chop lol

As Salted rightfully points out, Hirota should’ve tapped. We were all watching live saying, ‘he needs to tap 10 seconds ago’, and he never did, just let Aoki break his body in a career altering way.

Aoki got in trouble with Yuki, the fans hated him, and he moved on with his career. Hirota became an MMA note, despite having a lot of skills. But Aoki did get his comeuppance over the years. Losing to Akiyama was one of the lowest points for Shinya, and he’s the one who initiated the fight.

Anyone remember the absolute beautiful result when he fought that guy in a mixed ruled match

It was kickboxing the first round and then a round with MMA rules. During the kickboxing rounds, Aoki kept flopping to his back over and over and just did whatever he could do to avoid engagement

Second round starts and Aoki runs over and immediately shoots for a double and his opponent knew what was coming and threw a huge knee and KTFO Aoki. So satisfying

I remember seeing this live it was awesome

the only thing i wish is he was able to get up to his feet after the knee so he could really post up with some power punches when aoki was knocked out instead of just a few hammer fists

Dynamite 2009: Dream vs. Sengoku. Dream won 5-4

That was also the card where Ubereem nearly killed Fujita

also where Minowaman KO’d Sokoudjou and became Super Hluk

One of my all time favorite MMA cards. Idk that I was ever more pumped for a card, and it delivered. Wish more orgs would get together for battles like these.

I don't recall "all" the hardcores trying to defend it...I ripped him for that shameful behaviour at the time and since then.

I also recall his repeated cheating and stalling in the mixed rules match with Nagashima He was 'rewarded' for that embarrassing display early in the 2nd round and it was *glorious* to see. He should note how DJ conducted himself in the mixed rules match with Rodtang for an example of how a champion should behave.

Aoki is a fantastic grappler...one of the best submission artists of his generation, IMHO...but also seems like a bit of a douche, so I have to admit that while I very much enjoy watching him grapple, I also enjoy seeing him get KTFO on occasion lol

The saddest part of this thread is that the OP apparently has no idea who Hirota is, and thinks he's some random JMMA fighter.

Sorry I don't worship Genki Sudo. I can probably name and babble on in detail about more 80's Thai boxers than 99% of this forum if that makes you happy.

Those who watched it live didn't give a shit

That was an amazing ending to the DRAM-SENGOKU rivarly, everyone was buzzed from it. No one cared in the moment
