Remember Kevin Lee?

I remember he bet half his rent ( $400 ) once, and lost.

Got his ass whooped by Al Iaquinta after winning the first two rounds convincingly. I remember. No heart

His KO over Gillespie will always be the first thing I think of if I read or hear the name.

It's absolutely legendary and one of the most savage KOs ever seen in the sport. He literally right hands his head into the momentum of his own left high kick. Then another KO from the cage and a fourth from the hammer fist. Pretty certain this cut short Gregor's career and ceiling.

Stanky leg Lee is another classic clip though and would be second!

Overall his career was a little disappointing, because he clearly had a lot of potential, but he never quite lived up to it.

I'll definitely remember those two moments, plus the "don't talk about my mom" Michael Chisea incident. Win or lose he was definitely an exciting fighter in his prime, can't really think of many stinkers he was in even when he was losing.

It's s shame he flamed out so young - limited skills but incredible athlete, losing Robert Folis really derailed his focus/growth and the UFC gave zero fucks and gave him tons of bad match-ups after the Ferguson loss.

To think dude was so close to a UFC title (Interim but still), now he's recovering from his third ACL tear while fighting Diego Sanchez in Eagle FC....this game is fucking ruthless.

You guys always overrated him
He has a good physique which I know y’all are super into

A fighter who fell in between two weight classes. Too big for LW, too small for WW. Terrific fighter but crappy cardio. If he was a little taller or smaller and good cardio, he’d likely be in the top 5.

All I know is everybody suddenly started referring to him as fighter Kevin Lee and I still have no clue why.

Good fighter. Never quite lived up to the potential a lot saw in him. But has some good wins.

How would you remember his career in the UFC? At one point, he was seen by many as Khabib's worst match up but even when he lost to guys like Tony, people kept saying that he had the potential to become an elite fighter. What was his short coming? He had decent wrestling and a good ground game and despite the fact that he talked about how good his cardio was, he never displayed it. The lack of punching power was another issue.
How do you remember him? Did he truly have the potential to be someone great or was it just hype?
He's still 3 years younger than the current top guys at LW.

Could still make some noise.

He had two competitive rounds you could argue went to him against Oliveira.

If he manages to put the pieces together, I can see him still being a problem in the division.

I like Kevin but if you lose to Al Iaquinta twice you're probably not going to be the best fighter in the world.
thing is, he basically dominated Al for the first 3 rounds and then gassed out in 4-5

Which was a fight IQ / coaching issue more than anything. He basically blew his wad holding onto the body triangles and going for the choke.

Lee's fights are weird. A lot of them he could / should have won.

People say it's because he lost his head coach but who knows

Contender?
Wel he wasn't a gatekeeper and he was a bit past being a prospect, he beat some good solid veterans and outer fringe contenders and he was also ranked top 10 and some publications had him ranked as high as 5. Not sure what else you could call him.
