News Reinier de Ridder departs ONE, fighting at UAE Warriors 51 on July 27th

It was a TKO by retirement
Malykhin was an awfull match for him (and for anyone currently signed with ONE).
I believe he rebounds and gets signed with a bigger promotion. PFL would be nice. UFC also.

It was sad to see him "retire" on his knees in the middle of a round instead of quitting on the stool between rounds. I seriously doubt the UFC would be interested in Reinier de Quitter, maybe PFL will give him some favorable matchups. He's already lost 3 in a row if you count that grappling match, I can see why ONE would wash their hands of him.

I can see why RDR would want to leave, as he can't really go anywhere in ONE anymore. He has no chance of winning the title and there is no one else to fight other than the champ in that org.

But I'm not sure if ONE would want to let RDR go. They invested a lot in him, and he's one of the fighters who can't really complain about not getting booked. He was used a lot.

It's not above ONE to just have a fighter waste on their roster so no one else can use them. I wouldn't be surprised if he's kept on the books.

This card looks good. Some really tasty prospects with nice 0's.

Eh, they still gave Shogun two more fights after he tapped to strikes from Paul Craig, same thing with Branch after he quit against Rockhold. As long as RDR looks impressive in a fight or two they'll probably offer him a spot if only because MW needs all the blood it can get.

Shogun was a UFC champion and a fan favorite, Branch was on a huge win streak and came to the UFC from WSOF as a 2-division champion with multiple title defenses. The Riddler lost both of his belts to the same guy and is back to square one. Bad comparison.

Not really, they overlook a lot of foreign (non American) fighters all the time. Albeit, that's more so for central Asian and Russian folks.

Also, I'm not sure if the contender has had someone with a career as established as RDR before.

It'd be very strange from someone to go from ONE champion to contender series. RDR is more likely to be booked to fight a top 15 guy or a well known vet who is past their prime than that.

Fighters like MVP and Kayla just made the jump from other large promotions, and while they are bigger names in America than RDR, I would think the general philosophy would ring true. No one really leaves from the top of a major promotion to just start at the absolute bottom of the UFC (even worse than the bottom if DWSC).

Many great fighters have come from DWCS Jamahal Hill, Sean O’Malley, Taila Santos, Jailton Almeida, Geoff Neal, Jack Della Maddalena, Andre Muniz, Adrian Yanez, Alex Perez, Dustin Jacoby, Bo Nickal....
