It was a flop but I loved it. And apparently a well-respected Hollywood director loves it as well. Joe Carnahan directed The Grey and Smoking Aces.

McConaughey was nuking futs in this flick.

Matthew McConaughey leaping off the tower is a great moment in celluloid history. It should have been a life for a life scene. The sequence is perfect minus him not getting the kill. They fucked it up big time.

One of those movies that should have been good, but wasn't. Doesn't surprise me it's the same guy from 'The Grey;' because that was close to good, but wasn't, as well. Dogs don't act or look like that, even wolves, we know that. It tried to be deep, and even had a couple effective parts, but it just failed. Gave it another shot a couple weeks ago, and thought the same thing as the first time I watched it.

Reign of fire (like the grey) had a strong cast, some good moments, and an ok plot to work with.. But it failed. Reign failed even harder than the grey, because the subject material was cooler.

5/10

One of the worst movies I've ever seen.

This is Bale's wrongly maligned cult classic:

I love this movie, it's one of my guilty pleasures. Watched it just a couple of weeks ago

I was living in Dublin when it was released, got to go to the premier which Christian Bale, Rob Bowman & Izabella Scorupco attended.

It was mostly filmed just outside Dublin in the mountains, I got to see the set with one of the burned out dragons. My wife has a photo of her nephew in the dragon's claw

For serious, I was as excited about this movie ans I've ever been. A tank vs. dragons .... the fuck!!!!

It did not deliver.

The Grey isnt meant to be a survival vs wolves type movie. Look up the theories on it and you may like the movie a little bit more.
There's some very interesting takes on it.

I liked it at the time, from what I recall, but I barely remember the film

One thing is certain, Schaub is a fucking knob. It's hard to ever listen to that guy speak.
