Missed my Nuggets game last night, so box scored it -- WTF Jamal.... Shooting 25%? I'd bet he was a cone on defense for the most part because he's playing not to get hurt to my eye for all the games I've seen.
The big loss of "KCP" for the nuggets has been non-existent. Statistically Braun in his sophomore year so far is absolutely outperforming KCP's numbers in Orlando (by a mile) , and outdoing Jamal Murray. As crazy as this sounds, I think Braun (while AG is out out) may be the second best player on the Nuggets after the Big Sherpa; he is definitely trying harder on defense than MPJ or Murray.
Braun's doing PER of 15.7 with BPM of 0.2, on 16.7 / 5.5 / 1.8 with splits of 56% / 44% / 78%.
Murray doing PER of 13.5 with BPM of -1.9 on 17.6 / 4.3 / 5.9 with splits of 44% / 34% / 85%.
KCP, doing PER of 7.2 with BPM of -3.0 on 8.3 / 2.8 / 2.3 with splits of 34% / 23% / 100%. Was 40% from 3 for Denver last year, so he's having really bad start from distance.
Anyhow, Murray's reputation is taking a beating between playoffs last year, the Olympics, and reg season so far this year, he's going from "best player to not be an all-star" to one of the worst max contracts in the league. /rant
The Mavs hit them from too many angles, scoring 73 in the first half and finishing the game with 7 players in double digit scoring. The Nuggets did push for a 22-4 run in the 3rd and even take the lead late but ultimately it was Naji Marshall and PJ Washington that put that game away. The biggest issue for the Nuggets defensively was paint points. The Mavs had 66 points in the paint. They did the same to the Thunder but the Thunder had no Center.
